Just saw thread where they discussed about banning AI genrated story, so i want to ask whats your opinion on using AI to edit your story.

If you want to read AI writing, every chapter of my stories are around 50% AI written, which is the limit for ScribbleHub policy on AI (has to be mostly written by a human, not an AI.) I’ve gotten better at AI co-writing and steering over time, and the AI models have improved, so I feel like the...

    Warring States Era

I feel I don't have a choice since my distant ancestors actually served one of these daimyo, so as the descendant I have to pay some attention to that. (Also he's a pretty good character in Sengoku Basara...)

Always judge a book by its cover

I always wonder if this is because MC is meant to be reader stand-in / self-insert.

How do the members of the Meta Liberation Army feel about quirkless people?

MLA in the manga (haven't watched the anime as far) is an example of the "Revolutionaries are Hypocrites" trope. Basically, it's a stereotype about people who seek to change the social order that really, those people are just self-serving; instead of creating a better social order like they...

    ??! Prologues are Criminal !??

I prefer Brandon Sanderson style prologues ( and epilogues ) where they’re short “in media res” scenes that show something happening elsewhere in the same world from another POV than the protagonist. (I think Worm did this as well, as section break, though not prologue.)

    I got a 1-star rating.

I heard from another friend that they got two one-stars in the last 24 hours as well, and then I noticed that all the new series with either BL or Gender Bender in the genre have gotten one-star ratings as well. Maybe it is actually a job for @Tony if someone is on a “spree?”

    I got a 1-star rating.

Maybe it comes in waves — I got two one-star ratings yesterday and they appear to have added the story, rated it, and dropped it. I don’t imagine one or two of these “drive-by troll one-stars” is enough to be a review-bomb, but doesn’t Tony intervene if there are a bunch of them? Like, one or...

Help me decide what should be the next story arc for my novel

I agree that Conflict in Africa is the most interesting/exciting potential story arc, but that’s part of why I voted for school conflict instead. It sounds like your story has had a lot of big plot-development action story arcs, and the MC is still dealing with inner trauma. “Quieter” story...

    Need some prequel examples

Since the sequel is set on a fantasy world structured by jobs, and the prequel is set on Earth... then is it the story of how the fantasy world was created? Or is this a full-dive sim kind of story? Either way, if the prequel involves the creation of or evolution into the fantasy world, then you...

    To edit or to not

Since you’re talking about the kind of changes to already-published chapters which could affect further writing… it might be useful to think about “editing” as a few different kinds of things: Rewriting: starting over with the same story, doing it again. Revising: almost rewriting, but leaves...

The Best Video Game Commercial/Trailers Thread

In my mind nothing can compare to the late-90s Segata Sanshiro commercials from Japan It's even better / more ridiculous if you have seen the Akira Kurosawa film about the judo champ Sugata Sanshiro, and/or know that the actor is one of the original Kamen Riders

    The riddle that everyone overthinks

@DeirdreH ’s answer is the correct one if you can only ask them one question, but if there’s no restriction like that the quickest thing to do is ask something like “is it raining in this room?” Or “am I dead?” Or “do I have fifteen eyes on my forehead?” And then after that just ask “which door...

Does a villain always have to be redeemed?

If you go back and look at originals, a lot of Disney villains just get killed, not redeemed. Snow White: falls off a cliff then crushed by a boulder Sleeping Beauty: stabbed in the heart, assumes final form, falls off a cliff Little Mermaid: impaled by a ship, struck by lightning, sinks into...

Discussion about "write for yourself" when writing romance.

Of course an author should listen to the readers and consider the idea. But then the author has to make the decision alone. There's no guarantee that any one idea from readers, even if it is "objectively a good idea," can be stuck into your writing process and work. The "imagined scenario" from...

    Cool catchphrases

I don't use them but I was always impressed at how Joe Abercrombie managed to turn a boring line like "You have to realistic about these things" into a really good catchphrase for his most iconic badass character
