Which story tag immediately put you off a story?

I'm trying to overcome this (I haven't been able to read more than a few chapters) but so far no luck. Everyone recommends The Wandering Inn to me but so far I just find it sort of annoying and generic.

Writing How do I write faster?

I start writing but whenever I get stuck, tired, can’t find a word or have a hard time deciding, I press a button and a robot finishes the sentence for me or writes a couple sentences, then I pick or edit those and keep going. Makes it easy to write 5k in a couple hours, when I have the time.

Writing How do I write faster?

Keep writing, or cheat like I do. (Actually even my cheating makes me organically faster too, but probably not as much as writing on your own like a proper human.)

How thoroughly do you plan a chapter?

This also looks like the classic process of "I know what the main quest should be but I also thought of some interesting sidequests to explore and OH MY GOD THE SIDEQUESTS TOOK OVER EVERYTHING

Help with an idea for a Curse

Unlike some others posting, I'm into the idea of several stages of the change, because I think it allows for more nuanced exploration of what it means to be human, be the person you believe you are, etc. I think the issue is that your sequence is a little "muddy" because as you said, sensory...

Does anyone have as much fun when writing? / Why hate your own creation?

Having ideas and expressing them is always fun. Trying to make the expression good, clear, coherent, well-structured, and meaningful for someone else — by any definition at all of those things — is hard work. As soon as you start thinking about the work part, some of the pure fun drains out, and...

How do you get the Famous tag?

Pretty sure it’s 2000 for “Famous” not 1500?

    Stories You Want to See

Well-orchestrated shared-universe series where a bunch of writers are contributing at the same time. Back in the 1980s a lot of well-known sci-fi and fantasy authors started shared universes where a ton of other authors would write stories in one setting, usually published as a series of...

    AI Pictures of Your Characters

For today... why not Halloween-themed posters of characters from your story, dressed up in roles they don't play in your story?

I read Stephen King's On Writing

Some people call the completely unplanned writing style “pantsing,” as in the saying "do it by the seat of your pants" (figure it out as you go along). You can find plenty of discussion, videos, etc online about "pantsing." The opposite is planning, or outlining... The thing is, there's...

    Bad Reviews/ Interpretation

Heh, don’t worry. I was actually more or less agreeing with you, but we had a failure to communicate (drum roll into rimshot). And I teach with that audience segmentation / Moskowitz anecdote all the time, so yes I know it :D

Soft VS Hard Magic systems: (The Lounge Podcast)

It’s all relative. Compared to how “hard” some scientific explanations get in hard sci-fi, hard magic is still jello-soft. It’s just not pudding soft.

    What's your favorite dere?

I always forget my actual favorite, the very earliest -dere type from 116 years ago in one of the old-school isekai series… Langwidere (ラングウィデレ) (Langwidere: sleepy princess type who changes personalities unpredictably)

    Bad Reviews/ Interpretation

I know you’re trying to make a point here about how it’s the author’s responsibility to communicate, which is right — especially because you usually can’t control what anyone else does, so you have to take that responsibility seriously. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t others who have...

Just saw thread where they discussed about banning AI genrated story, so i want to ask whats your opinion on using AI to edit your story.

This thread is showing that there’s a pretty continuous spectrum of “how much is AI involved” going all the way from “suggesting a few words to fix a sentence” to “hey ChatGPT write an isekai LitRPG, i don’t care about the details.” (That’s probably the closest to 0% human creativity I can...

    Add A Polyamory Tag

I’d definitely support this tag as the other tags are kind of narrow in what they refer to, and this can sometimes mess with reader expectations. I have the #3 story in the “Reverse Harem” tag’s default ranking; the MC in my story has relationships with me and women (and characters with no...

Just saw thread where they discussed about banning AI genrated story, so i want to ask whats your opinion on using AI to edit your story.

Yeah, with the right AI it’s somewhere between having a horse and a smart intern. Horse because it can help go faster, get over rough parts you’re not as good at navigating, you can let it “roam” but you’ll probably end up somewhere random or just grazing if you don’t take the reins at the right...
