Writing Prologue vs Synopsis, help needed

Prologue is a bit of narration, set before the main story, often featuring characters which won't come into the story until later, or who didn't survive into the story, but had a big impact. If it sounds like a synopsis, you have a massively bad case of telling and not showing. I haven't read...

Should names be in its language or translated?

It's pretty cool how chinese names carry their meaning openly (it's charmingly autistic, lol). English names have their meaning buried ten layers deep, so most of us never know what our names mean (I'm a light deer, for instance, which is not obvious at all). As for the subject, use the...

    Is addressing the reader bad?

?‍♂️ Given that some of the greatest writers in the English language have done so (Charles Dickens in Great Expectations, for instance), I don't think bad is the right word for it. It is certainly out of style, at the moment, but it can be done. That said, I think even he avoids using "you"...

What are your thoughts on narrative protagonists and main protagonists in fiction?

The value of the "Narrator protagonist" is to offer a view at a character who is meant to feel alien/outside the reader. Holmes and Watson being a perfect example. Yes, you aren't an English doctor from the late 1800's, but you are substantially more alike to him than you are to a mystery...

Ignoring content, what do you think is the minimum number of chapters in a novel to be considered worth reading?

In normal circumstances I would consider it deranged to evaluate whether or not to read a story based on the chapter count, rather than on the appeal of its premise. Even with some allowances for the unique "content grind" model of WN, it is still rather a bit strange. Essentially zero of these...

    Story idea thoughts.

Even if well done, it might not ever be popular, but you could still have fun writing it. Not everything you do has to be for mass market appeal.

    Single POV or multiple POV?

It rather depends. A lot of classic fiction is done from an omniscient pov frame, which is functionally similar to multiple pov in many ways. The more modern standard is third-person limited, but even then the narrative sometimes needs to move away from the MC to show the audience something...

    Thoughts about time skips

This is absolutely not a question to resolved with a survey or some kind of literary rule. Any given story is likely to contain dozens of time skips of all manners of lengths, varying from hours, to hundreds of years, to literally until the end of time (eg. The Last Question).

    Creative burnout and story hyperfixation

Considering that most stories (especially WN) are horribly overwrought anyway, don't think of this so much as creative burnout, as your mind doing you the favor and cutting your darlings for you. If you don't think the scene worth writing, it probably wasn't worth reading either.

What are some of the most absurd plots you've ever encountered in fiction?

Hey man, that anime was hilarious! Stupid as hell, of course, but that's just part of the comedy.

I hope you're enjoying your councilor duties, Mr. A.A_M And Fool, sorry your day is going shitty, but look on the bright side, at least you're (probably) not on fire.

And now you've multiplied! Anyway. Prince, not terrible isn't a terribly high bar (hah hah), hope the rest of your day only goes up from there. Thanks for the odd comments Mr. Contro(ary?), I hope writing them brought you as much amusement as reading them did for me.

Somehow, there are two people following me. I'm not sure what to do with this information, so I guess I'll just try being polite. Hi People! How are your respective days going?

Does anyone else have a unique saying or catchphrase they often say?

Well, that's a weird catchphrase, but if it works for you, I guess we'll allow it.

Does anyone else have a unique saying or catchphrase they often say?

I love saying "Kid's these days" when someone does something dumb or silly, doubly so if they're older than me. I probably have a few others, but that's the first one that came to mind.
