Hello everyone, I have a few questions!

If you're stealing @K5Rakitan 's line you'd best go rate her story 1 Star.

    Oops

As long as it's just an "Oops!" and not a "MegaOops" because that is how you get an Alpha Complex and The Computer is your Friend. Trust no one. Keep your laser handy.

[AIvsHuman] I Shall 1v1 Grok And Evaluate New Writers

So far, AI is "tuned" to be positive; you would have to specifically force it to be rude, or abrasive or anything else really, in the prompt.

Why use AI to write your "book"?

I'm right handed and had that problem too. Made my already bad handwriting 10x worse. I was shocked to learn they have erasable pens out now that are actually decent writing tools (would not believe it if my wife didn't own a few). Cost about $4 each but they work as advertised.

Are stories written by AI good?

Nope. My SAN has not been in double digits in decades. Hail Cthulhu!

Writing [Tutorial] How to write CrAck (comedy).

AFAICT, the best way to write comedy is to not try. When you set up a situation, if a funny outcome pops into your head, use it. Write that version. Even if you decide never to use it, you've got a comedy bit you might be able to try later. Most comedy comes from twisting expectations, or...

    Average litrpg readers age?

I suspect, given who I know writes them, it's an inverse bell curve where the most readers are either older readers who grew up on "old school" RPGs (so the "Nostalgia" Factor) and very young readers for whom the idea is new and fresh (the "Gee, Wow!" factor). Those in the middle see them as...

Check out My Story- The Ascendants: Early Years

Heh. My personal record was five, between two stories, in one day. Usually manage two per day when I really get on a roll so that seems ... suspect, yes.

Data usage plans on phones when traveling & reading Scribblehub etc

Haven't been able to get it to load on my phone, so I just use my Kindle for reading and pause (or, if I have a backlog, automate) uploads for writing.

Writing Foundation & Polish (How Writers Actually Git Gud)

Ah but from which timeline - the original one, where the Huns swept through and killed everyone, or the one modified by Conrad Stargaard, the Crosstime Engineer?

Currently in a bit of a pickle right now.

Ah, well, do you still have access to that one? I'd suggest just keeping it. If you feel like going back to that story, then do so, and if not, just don't sweat it. Also include a link to that account's main page in your bio with a note "If you want to see my earlier, less polished work" on...

Delete or Edit, And, Split or nah?

I wound up having to split some chapters for upload to PocketFM, so kind of know your quandary. I suspect I'll just confuse my five (IIRC) readers and skip a few - currently looks like it will be 3 but not 100% sure yet - numbers, as it did not change the content, just the structure. May...

Currently in a bit of a pickle right now.

Not exactly sure what the problem is - that account is also on this site? Maybe you could have the story moved over to this one if you want to return to it some day? Or do you want to sever all association with it?

Why use AI to write your "book"?

That makes it sound like you're talking to a child - which is kind of appropriate, given that it IS a Language Learning Module IIRC. But the Learning part means it MIGHT grow up - or at least "learn" how to FAKE growing up, given enough time... (Then again, an infinite number of monkeys with an...

    Should scary stories have explanations?

It really depends on the nature of the story. Sometimes you do need that background, sometimes it kills the horror. And sometimes it adds to it. For examples of all three, read Dean Koontz. Really - the guy has some stories where finding out what is going in REALLY IS the horror (Midnight)...

Why use AI to write your "book"?

About a month ago, maybe two, I got into a discussion with a guy who had been part of Microsoft's attempt to get an AI system going (ChatGPT beat them to market with a product that was about six months ahead of them, two months before they were ready to release anything, and the entire unit was...

Are stories written by AI good?

Technically they're "perfect" - but so are Pringles potato crisps and some people find those repulsive. Also they are generally soulless. If you are into soulless perfection, they can be good and may one day approach art but ... they are not.

Humor Writing the trench warfare of writing.

Unless these two people occupy the same body, there's a problem with the pronouns here but I'm not 100% sure exactly what it is. On the subject of the actual humor, this is the kind of banter I use in some of my stuff (Strange Awakening, Between Worlds; haven't had a lot in the others; Jack...

Is Tapas a good site to publish novels?

According to a free e-book I downloaded last year about serial fiction publishing, you hit them during the "sweet spot" - they started out as comics-only, then started reluctantly accepting fiction, and only started taking fiction seriously in late 2020 (book was published in 2021 but I didn't...
