    Does writing effect your gaming?

That's pretty much how I've done video games since the 90s myself, with a few rare exceptions (like the first game in the Elder Scrolls line that birthed Skyrim, "Arena"). However... my first paid writing was for games (table top roleplaying games), so my writing kind of IS my gaming. For...

    New Writer looking for advice

I would change "When" to either "if" or "when/if" :D Also, don't be discouraged if people don't comment, as long as you have readers (and, conversely, if you only have a small number of readers but they actually comment on your work, also don't get discouraged).

Writing I think I wrote myself into a corner

Arthur Conan Doyle mentioned this - it was Sherlock Holmes theory of memory, the "Attic Theory" - the attic can only store so much data, and at some point you have to either consciously decide what is important or just stop learning trivial things (like "rules of courtesy")...

    Tips for writing a synposis?

In a world full of Web Novels, a Web Novel was Born. It was a different sort of Web Novel, for a Different Age. If you only read one Web Novel this Year, Read This Web Novel....

    Things I've learned so far.

That is solid advice for writing a traditional novel - the word count is high and chapter count low for a webnovel though.

Writing ? QUESTION FOR THE BRAVE

My wife actually tracked down the anime and made me watch it with her after seeing the live action version - it is worth watching the live action one first and THEN seeing it done right; the other way around just leads to frustration.

Writing ? QUESTION FOR THE BRAVE

Well, if an accident with a contraceptive and a time machine could lead to Zaphod Beeblebrox IV being the father of Zaphod Beeblebrox the III then anything is possible with time travel... And then there's Time Rider, where a guy goes back into the past and becomes the mysterious stranger who...

    Reading list

Between five separate lists right around 100, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. Though only about six I'm really "reading"

    Thoughts about books...

One slight flaw in the comparison - Video games usually have TEAMS behind them. Usually a lead artist, a character artist, a set artist and four or five assistants to each on the character and environment design side. Usually a lead writer and four or five assistants if there is any sort of...

    Very Unfair Story Feedback Thread

Best way to do that, IME, is a class - reading the books gives you a feel for the logic behind the religion and the stories that shaped it, but does not give you more than that, and will often be more confusing (sometimes intentionally so by the authors, sometimes just due to changes in language...

What got you into reading and what kinds of things have you enjoyed reading before?

My parents were teachers for several years, then dad became a reporter, and then an editor for several small newspapers before the company went under and he went back and got a Masters in Library Sciences. Mom spent several years as a librarian and substitute teacher. Brother has a MLS and a...

What are your thoughts on using IRL historical figures in fiction?

If they fit the story, it's kind of cool when they (or even old public domain characters) show up in a story. As for defamation and liabilities, I would either not worry about it if this was just a hobby work, or if I planned to monetize it, I'd research to see if there are descendants or a...
