How would you approach writing Hitman as a novel?

IIRC Hitman was one of the last Vertigo titles DC initiated before ending the imprint, so it kind of started as a novel before becoming a video game and a movie. To capture the feel of the video game, the best way to do it would be to write it out as kind of a "Choose Your Own Adventure" thing -...

Writing [Rant] Don't Insult your Readers.

Wasn't so much of an addiction as a babysitter... mom was the librarian so I spent a lot of time there before we went home after school!

Ah yes, a fellow practitioner of the Voynich Manuscript script?

I gave the ML an OP ability, but set 12 restrictions

Feels weirdly specific unless he also has an ability to see possible futures or something. It seems that maybe he should get flashes of what could happen, and can write the one he thinks would be best (and may have to change his mind later). Can he write out his own limitations? "At this exact...

Do i plan my story then start or go with the flow

In my experience you NEED to do both. Have an overall plan but leave it flexible. Once the characters are established, they WILL take the story in directions you hadn't intended, and often that works better than the initial plan.

    My unused ideas

Holy crap - I thought *I* had a lot of unused ideas but my list is maybe 1/10th of this!

I gave the ML an OP ability, but set 12 restrictions

There seems to be a contradiction there - does his power ONLY work three months in the future, or can it impact any event UP TO 3 months in the future?

Screw 'plot' or 'themes' or 'lore', give me your protagonist's BATTLE CRY!

Hmm - given the genres, Jack, Indigo and Sparrow probably should have battle cries but none do. None of my other characters really do, either, so far. Though I could easily see Malcolm being enough of a wise-@$$ to borrow The Tick's and shout "Spoon!" going into battle, just to confuse people.

    Gabrielle's Creative Corner Cafe!

Especially given that Clayface gets it wrong (confusing Isekai with Portal Fantasy) in the Suicide Squad: Isekai animation series it is kind of weird that this "new soul" would!

Writing [Rant] Don't Insult your Readers.

Heinlein did - he wrote "juvenile fiction" (The Star Beast), Young Adult fiction (The Time Tunnel and allegedly, Starship Troopers, the only book of his I never finished) and his more (sometimes FAR more) adult "Future History" stuff. My reading was very eclectic from day one, probably...

How many methods can you use to achieve teleportation?

Ones I've used: 1. Translation of Axis - using mathematics to "solve for the new location" by changing the character's current coordinates, 2. Having access to an alternate dimension (have one old Champions character who could teleport his limbs or his body, or others, because he was not...

    Recurring Themes?

Closest I've found in my stuff: 1st Person Superheroes 3rd Person everything else. Most characters wind up in committed relationships, but not all of these last due to someone getting killed at some point. Life is cheap - especially if you're a support character. There is almost always a...

Writing What would be your ideal chapter length?

According to PocketFM, chapters must be between 1000 and 3000 words, and SHOULD be between 1500 and 2500... Mine tend to range from 800 to 4000 though on first drafts (with most around 2k) so... whatever feels right to you as the author.

What's an Author hill you 100% die on? (Please talk about writing related topics)

I would change that last sentence to "Write what you have fun writing and/or would want to read." myself.

Tell us About Your Story Lore

Pick one (1. Between Worlds; 2. Digital Cowboy, 3. The Jack Diamond/Strange Awakening shared universe; 4. True Blue; 5. The one on Honeyfeed, The Kaiju System) and I will.... but have too many (and too much lore between them) to do them all...

I feel like giving up on my novel

Hey, my two that got the least interaction are both up on PocketFM and "ready" for contracts (which means getting paid in more than just site coins)... Granted, one of them got very little because it's NEW here but still...

How to describe things like a scene

I ran into some advice earlier this year that was: "Always try to engage two or three senses in every non-dialogue paragraph and three or four in every chapter. Every once in a while, challenge yourself to write a paragraph that uses all five - you may have to edit out one or two later but try."

I feel like giving up on my novel

Are you writing to make money, or just writing because you feel the story needs to get out, or writing for something to do, or writing for validation? If writing to make money, you NEED to start doing the promotion everywhere - I would suggest starting on SubStack. If writing because the story...
