Ho~? You expected an indepth explanation? But it was I, Negro!

Ah no seriously, wattpad or webnovel styled Paragraph Comments.. main reason people don't like migrating over to scribble-hub despite it's chill community is because of the lack of feedback they get from their audience.. I'm just saying, I think it's a positive investment.

EDIT: Togglable Goddammit! OPTIONS! The People want, no, NEED OPTIONS!

I didn't even know this kind of feature existed, but goddamn it would be nice to have.

Ah, but there's always the possibility of getting spammed by grammar corrections. :blob_no:

It would be nice to do inline comments. Make it easier to provide feedback on certain places in the chapter when requested for feedback.

Lmfao, good god that would be torture. Thankfully, it seems pretty uncommon, there may be the occasional correction or two, but I don't see it very often if at all.. And Webnovel's pretty popular ?

That is true, but people also just like messing around in the comments sometimes. It's either adorable and wholesome or just hilarious.

I love that feature on wattpad, but the downside there is that once you edit the chapter, all comments will loose the link to their paragraph. :blob_pout:

Isn't that just a programming issue? I don't think every website has to have that feature.

It’s a nice feature for long chapters imo

Coming from wattpad myself, this feature would be nice to have, there have been countless really good and funny paragraph comments that more or less unite the reader base under one banner (not talking bout corrections here)

I just realized that this feature is superfluous as you can already quote/reply to certain parts. :blob_sweat:

Wouldn't this feature just makes it easier for trolls to piss off the author? Authors already have it hard trying to get a chapter out, and if they're constantly being 'corrected' or 'derided' in every paragraph, wouldn't this kill any motivation they have? After all, pretty much the only people who would comment on paragraphs would be people who have very strong feelings about it or trolls.

Trolling is not fun on the target no matter how funny others think it is.

This, right?

Ai-chan doesn't know about you, but for Ai-chan, if every paragraph is constantly being commented on, it would get tiring very fast. It would come to the point where Ai-chan wouldn't want to look back at anything already published because those comment symbols are a major demotivator. It doesn't matter what it said, it would be an eyesore to Ai-chan.

A story should be enjoyable because it is a good story. The enjoyment should not come from other unrelated people making comments on the story. Ai-chan has never been on Wattpad, but Ai-chan has seen page comments on mangahere in the past and it was so bad that the mods had to clean the comments off the pages from time to time because it took away the enjoyment from reading the manga itself. Many of those comments could actually make the mangakas quit if they were aware such comments existed.

After all, when you read Stephen King's novel, you don't annotate on the pages for your friends to also laugh along with, "lololol Letting babies die in the car makes the car haunted? So dumb lol". Chapter comments is quite enough. There is no need to do anything that could give greater and easier opportunities for trolls or haters to bring down author's motivations.

For Ai-chan at least, it would take only 1 chapter full of these comments for Ai-chan to drop the whole story completely. Ai-chan is very strongly against this feature.

I am also in agreement for this feature. I loved it when I read a story on Webnovel and everyone kept chiming in on every paragraph. It made it more fun to read, like a written version of a reaction video or something.

I would be personally against it in my novels. I write longer chapters for a reason and the said reason is pacing. Said comments would certainly break it for anyone who is willing to read the comments.

Could be toggleable for authors. I could see how it wouldn't work well for some stories and be fine for others, as well as for the personal preference of the author, so it'd probably be better that way. And also like in Webnovel for the readers to be able to make it so they don't show up if they want.

Oh my fucking god this sounds absolutely amazing ?? I wanna let you know, that personally, I'm only referring to my experience on webnovel and wattpad so forgive me if I doubt something like this would occur ?

I mean, you'll really have to search through a very stinky septic tank, to find a degenerate who spends their time reviewing paragraphs, just to "Troll", that is literally the most boring and inefficient method to "Troll" someone I could think of. ? Even FFN, averages more nasty comments per chapter than Webnovel or Wattpad. And both websites allow you to do two things FFN can't. 1. Comment multiple times, and 2. add paragraph comments. I mean hey, if you're skeptical of this point, you can go check for yourself, I see no reason to supply you with something that is within arms reach. ?‍♀️

I have no clue why you would resort to "Testing Paragraph Comments on TwentyTwelve (TwentyTwleve of ALL PLACES?!?)" instead of either of the two sites mentioned, or any other respectable site known for pumping out good ff or novels?

I can't help but want to reiterate this.. Every site has a different kind of community, and despite webnovel being a toxic cesspool sometimes, it has nothing even remotely like this from what I've seen ? And I have 2000+ read stories and actively read Paragraph comments, So unless Scribblehub, has a community so bad it blows reddit out the water, you can once again, forgive me for being a little doubtful that some 'trolls' or 'haters' with negative opinions that didn't exist beforehand would magically appear ?

And whilst I completely understand your point in regards to "Giving haters and 'Trolls' (As unlikely as trolls are in this case) to bring down an author's motivations" That is literally doing the exact same thing to your own supporters ? Not everyone is going to keep a notepad on the side so they can conveniently jot down any questions, notes, praises, or observations to keep so they can comment at the end of every chapter ?

But hey, I just want to clarify, I'm not trying to say your suspicions or unfounded or anything, I just wanted to let ya know that just the inclusion of paragraph comments alone isn't going to instantly kill your will to write or only have negative impacts upon your story.

Togglable Paragraph comments for both the author or audience would be a nice feature to have. OPTIONS! People options!

Why Ai-chan uses TwentyTwelve instead of Wattpad or Webnovel? Simple.

The front page of scribblehub is made with wordpress. TwentyTwelve is a wordpress theme. You think Tony programmed everything himself? No, he doesn't have the time to do that. He'll just buy a wordpress theme or plugin and modify it.

There is no point using Wattpad or Webnovel as example because the site is not programmed from scratch. And therefore, any feature or appearance would most be limited to what themes or plugins wordpress offers and what he can do with those. Sure he does programme stuff, but if there are existing plugins, it's counterproductive to spend time and money programming and debugging the features when he can just buy it.
