    The only way so far is to complement the AI art with your own drawing and editing skills. There are also tools that function by inputting your own illustrations, then the AI will improve the art for you.

    How much should I plan ahead for a novel?

    I think it's good to have a rough plan of what you want for the story, tone, themes, key events, the ending, etc; otherwise, you risk hitting a wall and not knowing where to take things anymore, or just writing something that is all over the place. I'd say it's also not good to plan everything...
