Rewriting a story never goes well. Anyone rarely finishes their rewritten books. And you'll lose a lots of readers who invested their time in the story. And you might gain new readers. All in all, it depends on you. But if you ask me, I'd say just write a new book.

I'm going through one. So, I started writing a new book and took a little break. It helps. I'm slowly getting back to writing the old one again.

For new authors minimum 50+ chs because there are too many novels that are abandoned within 10 chs or so. For old authors, it depends on how many novels they have completed because most just abandon their ongoing works around 150-170 chs to pick up a new one. A very few completes their books.
