We've all seen the writers block threads, so I figured I'd shake things up a bit and make this. I'm rewriting my story, and I'm already struggling at chapter eight. I think I know my problem, I just can't get past it easily.

I want to change some story aspects, nothing that would change where things are now, but big enough that it affects the story later, however that feels a bit unfair to the people who are already really far into the story, so I've been trying to keep every major plot point similar to the original story, which is working fine, but I'm not enjoying writing it. Any advice?

I'm also rewriting my fiction, especially in volume 1, because the word count is too low; I'm trying to present a minimum standard of 1.5k words per chapter. I often postpone rewrites because I'm focused on completing volume 2. However, I still want to finish rewriting volume 1.

My motivation? Imagine your fiction being read by new readers... they can be more comfortable reading the rewritten chapters. Or maybe you can imagine your fiction one day being made into a physical book. At least, rewriting will reduce editing costs. I want my fiction to be truly worth reading. And that's why I will try to finish this homework even though I'm tired.

Rewriting a story never goes well. Anyone rarely finishes their rewritten books. And you'll lose a lots of readers who invested their time in the story. And you might gain new readers. All in all, it depends on you. But if you ask me, I'd say just write a new book.

As a pantser, I dread nothing more than a full rewrite. When I finish a story, it's done. At most, I will go back and add foreshadowing and do editing, but that's it. Anything beyond that just sounds soul crushing.

Rewriter's block? God I wish. I have terminal rewriter illness.
I can't stop rewriting. Every one of my chapters go through almost a dozen revisions before I even post them.
Then after, I'll rewrite sections of it a handful of times and still overthink or dread that I forgot something, didn't write something good enough.
