Have you ever had an idea you never made for one reason or another?

This one sounds so much like one I've been playing around with lately if you add a bit of harem to it. I keep getting encouragements to make a yuri series, and this keeps becoming the best candidate I have despite how lame the premise sounds once I try saying it out loud. That said, the one I...

Quantity vs Quality 2: Electric Boogaloo

If you're talking about the number of heavily descriptive writers in the past versus now, then I can't really say that it's really changed in any meaningful way, just that your views are heavily biases. The entire reason why descriptive writing became popular in the past was because authors...

    Author Achievements

I once wrote an essay about the socioeconomic benefits of perpetual warfare. Never found out what I got for that, but I didn't really get along with that teacher either. I did pretty well in the class despite all that in the end though :blob_teehee:

Writing How do you stay focus on writing?

Just one thing: plan. Lots of planning, and hard work. Two things! Lots of planning, and hard work discipline. Three things! Lots of planning, hard work, and discipline, and keeping distractions away. Four things! Ok, enough jokes. But really, for me, it really just boils down to two things...

    Quantity vs Quality

This isn't fighting. I don't even see how you consider it fighting, unless if your words were some sort of tongue in cheek line trying to provoke that sort of reaction.

    Quantity vs Quality

Not may creators PLAN on dropping their work before finishing it. It just happens due to complications or the loss of motivation. That said, things like patreon can be considered motivation itself, so that's a reason to set an account up before you're done. That said, I need to finish setting...

Will You Be Writing In The NaNoWriMo Challenge?

50k in 30 days? That's roughly how much I already do in my current series! But if I enter, I'd have to do double that. Don't know if I can do that unless if I can get a some time off of work. Maybe I can accomplish it if I spend all my breaks and time on the bus and train writing?

    Quantity vs Quality

This is no different from the old serials from more than a hundred years ago. People wrote periodicals back then, and still do now. It's just more accessible and easier to make than before. Sir Conan Doyle became famous through that exact same method, and we still enjoy his works a century...

    Advanced Reader Statistic

I agree here. Being able to see how many new additions to reading lists is great. In addition, I'd like the pageviews also subdivided between account holders and free users, though that might be more work than @Tony 's willing to put in.

I've written a small sex scene and not sure if i need to put a warning over it

The content warning you set when you make your series IS the warning though. Yes, it doesn't differentiate sex with sexy things, but if you really think about it, it's not much different. I'd say as long as it doesn't seem like it came out of nowhere and it was clear that content like that...

How difficult: English language as the medium of writing

Oh man! I know what you mean! I do that all the time even when speaking! There's been so many occasions when I'm thinking something but I can't remember what the English word for it, or flat out didn't know the English word for it! Then again, I had to teach several coworkers what the word...

How difficult: English language as the medium of writing

I used to work as a translator, so I wanted to point this out. Nothing can be translated 1:1 between any two languages, even ones that are similar. Thinking something in one language and then trying to put it into English is fine, but never do that with prose or any for of style. It just won't...

How difficult: English language as the medium of writing

Trust me when I say this, but a surprising number of the stories on SH with poor grammar is actually written by English natives. Just because you spoke and wrote a language for your entire life doesn't mean that you're actually any good at it. That said, the reverse can also be true as well...

    Do you use the glossary?

I have a locally made one for myself. It's full of spoilers, so I don't dare put it somewhere public though. That's also the reason why I don't use the built in glossary. It's especially bad since I go through a decent amount of work to name and describe characters that I have no plans on...

Hiding Specific Novels From Release Pages

Really? Weird. Maybe the two options conflict with each other? Try only selecting "Hide from Homepage"?

Hiding Specific Novels From Release Pages

I think you can already do this. Just add a story to your reading list, make a new list for the things you don't want notices for, then go to the list settings, and hit "Disable Reading List" and "Hide From Homepage" That should do it.

Getting an audience vs Improving in writing

You're asking quite a few things at once, but I'll try to do what I can. First of all, if you just want new readers, then exposure is the way to go. Put a link in your signature and go around all over the play and be friendly. Post tons of releases so you're on the front page all the time...

Writing Prompt Night Owls, what do they do in ancient times?

From what I've read, night owls were the night sentries of the prehistoric times. Due to how they (or we, as I'm one of them) naturally prefer staying up late at night and sleeping in the morning, they were the ones who tended the fires at night and watched out for dangers before humans had...

How do you write action scenes?

There's quite a few ways to do this, depending on the effect you want to achieve. And that's basically what you need to think of first: the effect you want on the audience. Is the action scene supposed to pump your audience up? Maybe make them think about the thematic meaning of the conflict...

    Always Public Reviews

So, I mentioned something similar in another thread, but I was thinking that if someone writes a review, I think it should be viewable on your profile even if you block everything. I'm not talking about ratings, just full on reviews. Being able to see people's review patterns is a very helpful...
