    Am i imagining things

Not imagining but maybe subconsciously exaggerating. Some of the titles will be more bombastic, just to stand out from fifteen other books that used a very similar title (even if they're in different genres; Shadow of the Wind may appear as a Fantasy novel, a children's novel - likely about a...

Why does it seem harder for web novels to gain views on platforms like Scribble Hub compared to the past?

There is a whole thread about this in the tips area. There is more competition, at least in the "popular" tags. People don't post compelling Synopses or use interesting cover art. People don't self-promote well. People don't put their best work in the first chapter, often posting a rough one...

    LLM is everywhere.

I believe @AmbreaTaddy has (or was considering having?) one of her stories posted here that she originally wrote in her native French and was translating to English with permission. But generally this only works if you ARE the original author; proving permission is a tedious task if you are not.

I just started writing, any tips will be helpful.

I've heard it HELPS but is not mandatory.... heck, I had a story on trending for about an hour before I even heard of you or your story! :s_tongue:

The Reason You Don't Have Readers: No, It Isn't How Well You Write

One thing you left out - self promotion. Many of us rely on word of mouth, and thus get a small, dedicated reader base IF WE'RE LUCKY. Those who get large numbers, generally come close to spamming their titles in various areas, both on and off the site, Redits and Discord channels, and Substack...

Maybe wait a day or so, so that you can include a link in your requests for reads/comments/Reactions?

As a new writer is it alright to work on 2 or 3 stories at a time?

I hope so. I have five posted and about five more at various stages of development. Edit: Though, to be fair, I've found I can really only handle three at a time.

Update content warnings to include AI usage

Can we have content warnings for endlessly circular threads on the forum?

I just started writing, any tips will be helpful.

Expect to screw up, especially if English is not your native language. You will have characters in two places at the same time, dialogue and scenes that contradict earlier ones, plot points that no longer make sense after events transpired - it is all part of the process; if you're a plotter...

    Made up TV Shows

Ah yes - I'd have to comb through three disparate chapters but there were a bunch of made-up books in Between Worlds (a few of them parodies of actual D&D books, most just made up).

I was tempted to change to something like "RepresentingNothingWhatsoever" but decided against it.

Have you ever been so invested in a story you cried? (twist) (rant)

Don't think I actually cried, but this was back around '83, so I might have and just forgotten, when John Byrne began the trend that would continue to mar Alpha Flight for the rest of its somehow 130 issue run, by completely destroying one of my favorite characters (Marina), after killing off...

Wait, I'm in the wrong feast hall!

Huh, that's the first time I've seen both the names Urd and Skuld used in the same passage for sisters outside of Ahmigatsu! (Ah! My Goddess!)- but Verdandi somehow became Beldandi there. Now if you want to make things really weird - some rare translations equate Freya with Frigga, Odin's wife...

Wait, I'm in the wrong feast hall!

If I recall correctly (it's been a long time since I saw that part of the myths), Odin's feasthall is for those who lived for battle, fought against all odds, and were, basically, violent meatheads like his son Thor (until he sacrificed his eye to gain wisdom, and hung for three days from the...

    Send me your stories(free feedback/reviews)

I think I have two that currently fit that range of limitations (on this site) - True Blue and Digital Cowboy( though both should move beyond it over the next few days - True Blue is a good deal longer on Royal Road; Digital Cowboy Dane just passed that length at CH 13 on PocketFM...); feel free...

Update content warnings to include AI usage

I'm not sure what this means, but that "polished AI" section looks a LOT like some of my first drafts when get on a sort of a roll and just keep typing.... then go back and find a lot of words missing, and a few sections repeated or uneven later. And a kind of clarification - much of what the...

    Writing Tip

My wife started with My Vampire System, which is pretty close to LitRPG (may be "mere" GameLit + System?)... But I'm already insane so it didn't bother me.

What's your least liked or most hated part of writing?

Actually the WORST part of writing is putting something out there and getting crickets. Just crickets. Maybe some views, but that's it. No interaction, no feedback... just crickets.

How Long Did It Take For Your Work To Reach 1k Views?

Strange Awakening took 12 days (currently at 12K). Between Worlds took six months (currently at 1.4k). Nothing else has passed 700. I started posting here in what, May of 2024 I think.
