After being a fan of the manga for a few years now, I decided to read the "Tensei Shite Inaka de Slow Life wo Okuritai" light novel and am surprised by how much lower quality it is. Usually the novel has all the juicy stuff that they couldn't fit into the other formats, but here the novel seems unorganized, at least in its events.

I dont remember which, but over the years a few manga and Korean manhwa have had a tight coherent story but the original wn was a meandering mess, some have poorly timed introduction of characters, random plot elements that goes nowhere, badly structured sequences...etc

Some novels just needed a second draft, and adaption goes thru that i suppose.

Met a few instances where the source material was worse than the adaptions or different adaptions (animation vs webcomic) where worlds apart in quality. Last time I was disappointed by katainaka no ossan anime. The manga is SO GOOD, but the anime not only lacked good animation, the characters and overall plotflow was so wonky, and it was apparently following the og source LN.

Money sometimes does wonders.

Despite its structural flaws, this is a very solid SoL isekai novel about enjoying life in a 'relaxed' way. I love how the MC just wants to live peacefully with his family in a remote village, instead of going on adventures or saving the world.

I agree. Most other works in the genre have the MC want to live a slow life, but since he's OP, he's forcefully swept up into world events. In "Inaka de slowlife" and its sister novel/manga "mofumofu slowlife" the author successfully does a slice of life in a fantasy world.

Well, it's similar in its goal of peace but different in its world context. That isekai is a wholesome fantasy with a bright world. In my fiction, it's a dark world, where peace comes after paying a heavy price (a world of amnesia, social trauma, wounds demanding revenge, etc).

It's not that I like a dark world... but a dark world is an allegory of the real world. I wanted a story that was realistic yet fantastical, so it didn't turn a blind eye to the harsh truth.

A bright fantasy world is nice on the surface. But it indirectly turns a blind eye to the dark realities that occur in the real world.

I don't want escapist fantasy. I want inspirational and reflective fantasy. That's my motivation for writing Blood Rose Princess.

"Tensei Shite Inaka de Slow Life wo Okuritai"
Have been following for the last 3+ year.

500+ chapter of slowlife is totally chill

The writer describes himself is a "scenario writer". All event are connected to one another, without just telling, but showing as well.

The vacation and visit were explained really well. All accomodation were shown, including the food, the bed, and the method of transportation.

Most Isekai Reincarnation would've expect the character to grow up and experience main plot and battles by chapter 10-20, and by chapter 100, several arc of greatness has passed.

In "Tensei Shite Inaka de Slow Life wo Okuritai", The main character is still a kid, who's enjoying their Group Pillow Fight inside the inn lodging during the vacation arc.

And even these pillow fight is way way better annd way way more entertaining than most of the Isekai grand battle peak moment in other stories.

This is truly slowlife, down to the letter.
