Original story: fiction whose story elements (worldbuilding, characters, conflicts and plots, and moral values) are completely new, unique, and never before told. Example: LOTR is known as a pioneer of high fantasy fiction.

Mainstream story: mainstream fiction whose story elements re-narrate popular tropes without adding an original twist. Examples: Superhero, villainess, isekai, cultivation, teen romance, etc.

Mainstream story with original premise: mainstream fiction whose story elements use popular tropes, but the premise is completely unique and new, never before told. Example: Death Note (detective, police family, crime, etc) = mainstream tropes + book of death misused by a genius high school student to become a god in a new world (original premise).

Honestly, I like all of them equally. Can't go wrong with the mainstream. I mean, it works. Adding a unique spin is always fun. Making a unique system and events is typically very cool. I honestly can't prioritize one over the other.

As long as it is interesting and is executed well. That’s all that matters

I respect your preferences. You may like them all. But imagine if you were presented with three types of stories, which one would you read first? You may like them all, but you can only read one type of story at a time. That's why I'm asking about reading priorities, not reading preferences.

Mainstream with a twist.

I am basic like that.

Don't get me wrong, I love a well written og novel, but if I am looking for something light to read, I probably will gravitate towards the familiar mainstream stuff.

Isekai/systems - sure. I don't need them, but if executed well, they can be fun.

OP MC - Meh, prefer a bit of struggle, but I will take it

Fanfics of popular stories - Sure, as long as the new MC doesn't follow the exact path of the original MC... otherwise what is the point?

Dominant MC - Yep! These push over MCs that get trampled by pretty much everyone and laugh it off because 'That is my life' just erk me. Not asking for some arrogant asshole, just not the proverbial 'Beta' MC popular in many LNs, Manga, and anime. Let the guy/girl be able to talk with most other people without being intimidated.
Also, a smart/wise MC is much better, making more intelligent choices than the original, leading to the change of the canon of a story (if fanfic). Not asking for someone with 140 IQ or anything, but just not doing obviously dumb things, or stutters anytime someone of the opposite sex talks to them.

World Building - This is a must for me, even in a fanfic. The world needs to be developed, some thought put into how the world works, explaining things enough that my 'Theater of the Mind' can build the rest of a scene without needing it written down. IE; just because many people know DxD doesn't mean your fanfic of DxD doesn't need world building and character development. Hell, that should be half the fun of writing in the first place.

So, mainstream with twist in the story work for me!

Whichever one is more fun to read, either due to a sense of humor or pacing, or just great writing.
Then whichever one is shorter so I can finish it eventually.

I read and write mainstream with original premises. Those are the ones I click on first as well. I will go through tags I like and find the story that has the eye catching premise/twist.
