This sounds exactly like what happened to the author of "When You Reach Me." So, do what she did: find the most cool-sounding line from your book and make that the title.

Might work. Thanks for your wisdom.

Most of my ideas were used at some point in the past. Unless it goes to paid publication it really isn't an issue (though it can kind of feel like cheating if you "reuse" someone else's title).

You can always just come up with an 100-word long title that describes your story and list every single tag in brackets so that people know at a glance what your story is about :blob_hide: Better yet, just put your whole first chapter in the title so that people can get hooked on it without even clicking on it!!! :blob_evil_two:

Example: Wowwie! I Ate A Fruit At A Random Market Thing And Then I Grew Wings!!! So Cool! Because Of That, I Got Accepted Into Wing Magic School As The Only Dude Because Typically Only Girls Can Grow Wings (oooooo) Now I Will Have Lots Of Babies And Stuff [LITRPG] [SMUT] [GenderBender] [SchoolLife] [Zootopia] [Algebra Failing] [Wings] [Do] [You] [Get] [The] [Point] [Yet] [?] [:blob_teehee:]

Makes me laugh about the fact that some of the titles I come up with are so generic I genuinely expect several series to have the title already.

And yet somehow they never do.

I honestly don't think this is descriptive enough. The title should be a full synopsis, up to the second season (slight exaggeration, but still...)

you mean, if they use my title, I search their book for a good line to use as a title?

Are we unable to use a title if someone else has?

Man, Im so down. Just tried the name I want to use for my book, and what do I see? Someone 3 years ago posted a chapter with 100 words under the same name!
Good to know no one took my title before I did.

Anyway, follow the others' suggestions. I'm gonna cackle a bit before going.

Yeah, not sure why people don't go ahead and use the same titles. Unless they are trademarked everyone has the go ahead.
Generally, before something goes to formal publication, a team of lawyers WILL research a name and verify that nothing published within the last 20 years in the same "area" (i.e. if a physics textbook has the same name as a fantasy novel, that will probably get a pass, but if two sci fi epics have a title with just a single word or letter different, the one not in print yet will be forced to change). But if you're just posting online, even if using Patreon or something like that to make some money, there is no real reason to not use an existing title unless you just want to avoid confusion or feel like you are more creative than the person who beat you to the title you wanted.

But how many Metamorphosis, Broken, Mageborn, Dungeon, The Voyage, The Forest, Vanished, etc. are there?

Depends if you count additional words - is "Metamorphosis" the same as "The Metamorphosis," "A Metamorphosis" or "Metamorphosis: A Story of Transformation"?
