Man, Im so down. Just tried the name I want to use for my book, and what do I see? Someone 3 years ago posted a chapter with 100 words under the same name!
Might work. Thanks for your wisdom. This sounds exactly like what happened to the author of "When You Reach Me." So, do what she did: find the most cool-sounding line from your book and make that the title.
Whats the name?!?!same name!
I honestly don't think this is descriptive enough. The title should be a full synopsis, up to the second season (slight exaggeration, but still...)You can always just come up with an 100-word long title that describes your story and list every single tag in brackets so that people know at a glance what your story is aboutBetter yet, just put your whole first chapter in the title so that people can get hooked on it without even clicking on it!!!
Example: Wowwie! I Ate A Fruit At A Random Market Thing And Then I Grew Wings!!! So Cool! Because Of That, I Got Accepted Into Wing Magic School As The Only Dude Because Typically Only Girls Can Grow Wings (oooooo) Now I Will Have Lots Of Babies And Stuff [LITRPG] [SMUT] [GenderBender] [SchoolLife] [Zootopia] [Algebra Failing] [Wings] [Do] [You] [Get] [The] [Point] [Yet] [?] []
you mean, if they use my title, I search their book for a good line to use as a title? This sounds exactly like what happened to the author of "When You Reach Me." So, do what she did: find the most cool-sounding line from your book and make that the title.
Good to know no one took my title before I did.Man, Im so down. Just tried the name I want to use for my book, and what do I see? Someone 3 years ago posted a chapter with 100 words under the same name!
Yeah, not sure why people don't go ahead and use the same titles. Unless they are trademarked everyone has the go ahead. Are we unable to use a title if someone else has?
Generally, before something goes to formal publication, a team of lawyers WILL research a name and verify that nothing published within the last 20 years in the same "area" (i.e. if a physics textbook has the same name as a fantasy novel, that will probably get a pass, but if two sci fi epics have a title with just a single word or letter different, the one not in print yet will be forced to change). But if you're just posting online, even if using Patreon or something like that to make some money, there is no real reason to not use an existing title unless you just want to avoid confusion or feel like you are more creative than the person who beat you to the title you wanted.Yeah, not sure why people don't go ahead and use the same titles. But how many Metamorphosis, Broken, Mageborn, Dungeon, The Voyage, The Forest, Vanished, etc. are there?Generally, before something goes to formal publication, a team of lawyers WILL research a name and verify that nothing published within the last 20 years in the same "area" (i.e. if a physics textbook has the same name as a fantasy novel, that will probably get a pass, but if two sci fi epics have a title with just a single word or letter different, the one not in print yet will be forced to change). I want a credit for that~Might work. Thanks for your wisdom.
What do I look like, a cop!? (But seriously, just be creative. They literally say to not judge a book by its cover.)you mean, if they use my title, I search their book for a good line to use as a title?
