Sometimes the best armor is no armor/clothing at all. In the right circumstances, it can be "super effective," x5.0 Critical Hit Ratio.
to be fair, horniness isn't smart“sexy” armor looks stupid
How about you actually read the comments you respond to?Back at you. You talk about how Conan is ok since "which makes perfect sense because he's not rich and in a hot climate." But for some reason we can't do the same for female characters? Really?
In other word you want to say that bikini armor is a bikini made of steel, iron, or any other metal. Bikini armor can't be made out of leather, fur. Can't be scale or lamellar either. How about you actually read the comments you respond to?
NOTHING in my comments says a female character can't run around in a bikini. The problem is in the bikini ARMOUR part. You know, The part that actually makes it expensive and impractical?
The male equivalent would be if Conan ONLY wore a codpiece. Underwear is not a codpiece just like a bikini isn't a bikini armour.
So it like superman wearing armor to confuse people...Sometimes the best armor is no armor/clothing at all. In the right circumstances, it can be "super effective," x5.0 Critical Hit Ratio.
Let me look them up lolSide note:
There is a collection of short stories called,
'women in practical armor'
Read it ages ago, I didn't like all the stories, but a few was pretty good.
Well yeah but now people can argue without going anyway especially when some say skimpy armor can have statsFunnily enough the supposedly 'practical' metal plate armor that everyone loves throwing around is heavily stylized based on the fashion of the time.
For example, the tight little hourglass shape of that Joan picture earlier in the thread is a common trait of male designed plate armor purely meant to make a figure look more masculine (by medieval standards, not ours). Tomboy Joan is looking great.
So yes, it's both possible and expected for armor to be stylized. The modern idea of plate armor is an illusion created by a sort of nostalgic bias. When armor stopped being useful, the development of fashionable armor stagnated outside fantasy.
That's not to say that there aren't impractical fantasy (or even real life) armors, obviously. It's just unwise to assume something is impractical on principle.
Well that's fair especially when the skimpy armors in games are there for hot-blooded males to eye candyto be fair, horniness isn't smart
but you could say that creators putting out bikini armor to get +100% audience is big brain tho
Strictly speaking, non-response bias. This should be a wonderful example of survivorship bias or was it failure bias?
Look, I never said impractical things couldn't work. I never said to discard impractical armor because it doesn't make sense in real life. That simply wasn't my point. I just don't think authors get to write anything because it is fantasy and without any reasonable justification. I'm upset about the argument that essentially says, "Hey, loook, dragon in the sky. Who cares if I've got an impractical design and I never bother to give an explanation why it is shaped terribly the way it is?"As a concept bikini armor, weird impractical weapons, and stupid armor works. It can work in games, I'm too lazy to name a lot, so I will simply name Bloodborne. The weapons there are impractical in our world, but they all have proper explanation on why this or that works. Obviously some stuff is omitted, but if you are going to say it is important, and it can't work without a full-blown report on how they work, and what kind of steel they use, I don't think we can have a conversation.
If we talk about how majority of people implement it, it is usually impractical, and does not have any explanation. Yes. I am not defending this, nor do I care about it. I only care about concept of impractical armors and weapons. I don't even care about bikini armor, it's simply part of the impractical armors category, so I kinda care about the concept by extension.
Your opinion is wrong. My opinion is that “sexy” armor looks stupid and that full plate armor is cool and makes it look better.
No u.Your opinion is wrong.
Where the hell do you get this stupid crap from? Just stop trying to make me sound stupid by putting words in my mouth that I never said nor implied. In other word you want to say that bikini armor is a bikini made of steel, iron, or any other metal. Bikini armor can't be made out of leather, fur. Can't be scale or lamellar either.
So your fishing for those pics eehSlight sad that a quick scroll of this thread only yielded 2 bikini armor pic.
Ya.So your fishing for those pics eeh
It can.A magic sword can't just be impractically designed because magic swords don't exist in real life.
No.They can be reasonably explained, but for them to exist without any justifications isn't a quirk of fantasy—that's just bad writing.
I was looking at Conan portrayed by Arnold. He wears a codpiece made out of hardened leather, fur, and little bit of metal. People are okay with it. The only ones who don't like it are people from echo chambers known as subreddits.Where the hell do you get this stupid crap from?
That is quite literally the only one out of a dozen different versions where he wears a codpiece instead of w/e you call the loose leather flapping around in the wind. Which doesn't seem very practical either.I was looking at Conan portrayed by Arnold. He wears a codpiece made out of hardened leather, fur, and little bit of metal. People are okay with it. The only ones who don't like it are people from echo chambers known as subreddits.
Oh yes, I am a well-known sexist. But just in case, fantasy armour, right? FANTASY armour? We still talk about fantasy? I believe those bikini armor, albeit not the one made of solid steel, can be made practical via ecnchantments. That's what magic is for. Case closed. Are they practical? Yes, cause they have magical shield protection, or speed enchantment. This post was asking about practical fantasy armour and NOT about sexism.
