Ever have those days where you felt like you've lost the ability to read?

I'm a big reader. Always have been. Although when I was young, I only stuck to manga and comic books. Fictional prose reminded me of school textbooks (yikes). It's only been a few years ago since I started reading fiction prose and became addicted ever since.

But there were some instances where I felt like I'd lost the ability to read. You know, one of those days where you just didn't feel it but wanted to read anyway. My mind was cloudy. Images didn't form as clearly in my head like they used to. I remember rereading Stephen King's It—the first few chapters—and seeing Pennywise as a funny cartoon-ish clown painted by a three year old (and here I thought that book was scary).

Ever have those moment?
Probably like a burn out or a lack of vivid imagination.

The only times I have trouble reading are when I am really tired and ought to be sleeping instead. If I need to re-read the same paragraph three times before it makes sense, it's obviously past my bed time. So... get more sleep?

Writer's block? Nah, how about reader's block?
I get this ALL THE TIME. It's usually right after I finish a series and my brain goes into processing what I just read instead of actually reading. Like, I read something non specific that gets specified later and I can't remember anything about it.

Relatable.

I also got tired after reading around 150-200+ chapter of story in one sitting, and then I can't imagine or enjoy the story anymore.

The novel I've read until now is just walk of text that isn't mean anything anymore, it really feels like I'm being disillusioned, detached, or maybe I lost the ability to read like you said.

The solution I usually used is to read comic, anime, video. Anything that have more than text, as the visual helps me feel attached to the works anymore. After that I slept and then after waking up, I can continue reading another 200+ chapter of text before getting disillusioned again.

I've been in this state for at least two or three years. I'm glad to come back to reading after such a long pause because this entire time my mind felt like a slimy stupid mush. And I guess I used to have this feeling that I just can't stomach words, or sentences, or stories, or any sort of texts, because I was exhausted from studying. I still am, but something pulled me back into reading. I think it was the fact that I returned to writin, as well, after a few years of stagnation :blob_cookie:

So I should stop procrastinating and start writing some shit already, sounds about right?
if you are as scared of degradation as I am, then probably yes, it will help you both with keeping your brain from turning into rubber and with making your writing better... I guess the only reason I came back to reading was because I was scared that my writing skills went down to the rock bottom, but I have a ton of ideas, and I definitely need those skills to execute them, and reading trains your writing skills as well
