Why don't you write a new book, which is child-friendly? Different plot, different characters? Rewriting is like a dark hole. Once you start, you can never end.

It would take too long. Plus, it's not like I'm not going to release the original. I'm just making an alternative family friendly one using the other as a base. The editing shouldn't take more than a few months to alter.
