    AI Ethics, Etiquette, or Manners

    1. Large Language Models/Neural Networks aren't AI 2. If we actually made a legitimate AI that had some kind of consciousness who is to say it would care about politeness the way humans do?

Give me arts about girl with gun

I remember enjoying it, but also I was a teenager when I watched it so that might have coloured my perception too.

How to handle changes of point of view?

I would use some way to indicate it. It could be doing the same thing as you do for a scene change causing a very obvious break or it could be as minor as inserting an extra newline the indicate something happened as long as you're consistent with it most people will pick up on if after a few...

A character’s morals are challenged during the story.

There isn't really a way for anyone to give you a definitive answer on that. It just depends on so many factors. How has your character been portrayed? If your character is as observant and analytical as Batman, but suddenly he overlooks something obvious to further the plot people will be...

How do y'all fall about the death of the author theory?

I tend to fall on the side against "death of the author". You can imagine all you want about a story you're reading and as long as it's all just in your head that fine, but the moment you start publicly arguing about what things mean then the author has the final say on what canon is. If the...

what is it called if the readers are able to push the story in a certain direction?

Well it depends on what you mean by pushed by the readers. Theres the choose your own adventure option where you have to write branching storylines and the reader picks where to go where the branches split. Or you have the one where it is not an individual reader that picks, but where your whole...

    POV switches

POV switches are a divisive thing. People tend to be very particular about liking or not liking it and also exactly how they like it to be done. Generally less is more though. Unless shifting the POV away from your MC is adding integral information necessary for your story its best to err on...

Love Triangles can be annoying and I squashed that idea.

It depends a lot on what kind of story you're writing. They're common in romance stories because its an easy way to generate both conflict and intrigue. Same goes in general when there are multiple competing love interests, but the more you add the harder it becomes to flesh them all out so...

Is this a good thing or a messed up thing to do?

IMO absolutely horrific. What they did to her was worse than what she did to them, not that that was much better. All of them deserve to burn.

Patreon NSFW Guidelines Killing Smut Authors

It hasn't hit me yet, but I've been expecting it pretty much the moment they sent the email about them updating their rules/guidelines. I've started setting up accounts and getting all my content on alternatives in preparation. As far as I'm aware subscribestar is less strict at least on their...

"SYSTEMS", Floating Sceens, Skills and levels, YAY or NAY

I read them, I write them. Reading them is more fun than writing them, keeping track of character stats and experience progress as a writer is a pain in the ass.

    Spider-man 2 has awful writing

My general interpretation is when politics, in particular left-wing ones in this case, take precedence over the quality of the product usually leading to a degradation in quality. However the word is used by a bunch of different groups in different ways. There are plenty of people who yell woke...

    BL Writers

Best advice is to tag any controversial tags that play a decent role in your story and if it's a big role to even make it clear in the synopsis. It's all about managing expectations. If you set the right expectations people review bombing not for quality, but content will be kept to a minimum...

I need to test and discuss this new writing method

I had to change how I read. I started out way slower because I was trying to read the words. Then I switched to something more akin to skimming and it indeed went faster while retaining more of it than skimming usually does, but I didn't enjoy reading it.

What do you consider to be generic Isekai Fantasy?

Middle age inspired technology levels, culture and architecture. Basic elemental magic, elves, dwarves etc. Pretty much people doing a weak imitations of Tolkien stuff. I don't hate it. It's fine depending on what you're going for. It doesn't tend to make for the best of stories either though...

Chapter names or no chapter names?

I like to make my titles touch on the themes for the chapter, but tend to do so far remotely. Like more of the you realise it after you've read the chapter and go "oh, that's what it meant." Also of course avoid referring to a twist or sudden change in the title.
