A fanfic you want to read.

Hmm, after mulling over this question for a while, I'm going to recommend BLAME! I think the setting is super compelling. It takes place in this inconceivably huge sprawling city that's absolutely hostile to humans. It brings to mind books like House of Leaves. Besides the setting though BLAME...

What do you do to encourage yourself?

Honestly, I feel that reading encourages me. I love books, and whenever I feel like I've read a particularly good one I can't help but picture myself in that world, interacting with its characters. Where would I have gone? What would I have done? How do I make a lot more sex happen here...

    How to retain reader interest?

So it sounds like, 5 chapters is the point where people have decided that they like to book enough to read it, but then people are getting board somewhere in the 30s. Perhaps your novel needs to pick up the pace? This would be a good place to introduce mystery and intrigue, but to me 'fan...

    Doubts when creating a story

I agree. If you're trying to pound a square peg into a round hole, or something just seems off, take a step back to consider things from another angle. If what you've planned out isn't working, make a new plan.

Seeking Advice on Approaching the LitRPG Genre

The book I'm writing now is sort of quasi-litRPG. Characters have class-like architypes, named spells and skills that can be unlocked and upgraded, an inventory they can pull items from, and it all takes place in a very dungeon-crawly game inspired world. However, I'm not putting in anything...

Calling All Creatives: Help Me Craft a Story with Random Tags!

Ohh, how about Vocaloid? Just looking though the tag list there are exactly 0 stories tagged with Vocaloid, so you can at least hold your head up high, knowing you've told most popular Vocaloid story ever written.

    Need help with werewolf culture

One thing I would avoid is the whole "Alpha / Beta / Gamma" dynamic that werewolf novels (particularly erotica) seem to focus on. It's not at all accurate for how pack dynamics actually work in wolves. Instead, I say make your pack a matriarchy. Oh, and when TheEldritchGod mentioned Werewolf...

Gratitude and Appreciation: A Milestone Reached

    Should I still do it?

"Too Filthy" is impossible in my opinion. No matter how perverted whatever you come up with is, someone out there is going to be into it. I say go for it.

    Mistborn adaptation

Um... okay. Not sure how you'd go about adapting a book where plantation owners beat their slaves to death, but whatever.

    Mistborn adaptation

I'm reading the first book right now actually. Seems like something that would make a good series to me, maybe a Netflix or HBO adaptation. Interesting world, logical magic system, interesting characters. With one of the major themes being, "Slavery is bad actually" I think I would do well.

What are the themes of your stories?

I really don't get the visceral reaction people have against NTR. I can't say I get it as a fetish either, but I really don't care one way or the other if characters in a book are "cheating." Though I suppose my attitude is a rare one given that one of the themes of my current story is, "Take...

Forum profiles should link to main Scribble Hub profiles.

It would be nice if there was an easy way to get from a poster's forum profile to their main profile. I'm often lurking in the author's forums, and find myself wanting to see what stories a poster there has written, but there isn't an easy way to do that. I've noticed that many authors (myself...

Should I put THE SEX in my work?

Well, this is a a dirty old man's option, but I won't read anything that doesn't have at least some of the sex. Personally I'd rather a story have completely random and unnecessary sex coming out of nowhere than have no sex at all.

How much is a healthy word count?

As a programmer, I feel that word count is a poor metric. You can measure a software engineer's lines of code written per day, but that doesn't tell you anything about their productivity. You can always make a program longer, but actual engineering is implementing a feature in a clear and...

The Great Pansexual Polyamorous Harem Adventure

I'd say it's tangentially important. The sex doesn't drive the plot, you'd be able to skip over the lewd bits and still understand what's happening tough you might miss important details. The sex is important to understanding the characters and their motivations though.

The Great Pansexual Polyamorous Harem Adventure

Heh, yep. I don't think I could ever actually write NTR. The idea of a pathetic protagonist just doesn't have any appeal to me. And as a person who's been in poly relationships it's difficult for me to put myself in the headspace of someone who feels that way. I guess I just lack those...
