Which types of weapon do you like your protagonist should wield?

Improvised weaponry. Jackie Chan style for the win.

How do you write a believable world?

Good advice here. In my story Necromancer Unmanned, everyone is capable of doing at least some magic with proper training. Women are seen as near equal and female leaders aren't seen as unique. While most people only learn one or two spells that are useful to their job or life, having an...

    Protagonist's Back Story

It's a backstory. To make her an active protagonist, she's going to have to be thrown in the deep end and made to swim. But it gives her flaws, things to overcome, potential for some unique skills (what has her mom taught her, what has she learned in her free time away from most people). So just...

What do you thing of POV changes across chapters?

As long as it's clear who has the POV, it's fine. It's only a problem when the POV character is unclear.

Why do guys chose to write gender bender?

Sales. Years ago I made story that was a genderbender, and it was popular. Kept it up with other stories, and kind of fell into the habit.

How do you write a believable human protagonist?

Write a cat, give the cat more insecurities, eccentricities and stupidity, throw in a love triangle, and you've got a human.

The correct time to review a story.

YOu should review it when you have enough to say something useful about it. If the first chapter truly wowed you with the worldbuilding, dialogue, editing, or something else, you can leave a short review. If it takes the entire story to give you something useful to say, then you can leave a...

    Out of Place Vernacular

Keep slang out. It dates the story and will throw out the immersion. OK, is borderline. It sounds too relaxed and easy going in many situations. If the character is formal, or the situation is formal, throwing OK in there sounds off. In a more relaxed situation or character, it's OK.

    Writing a singer.

Focus on the emotions and movement. Here's a scene from a story I wrote a while ago where a former musician plays a harp after a serious accident where she got a cybernetic arm. I don't know much about actual music and I couldn't write a song to save my life, so I don't even try. Going for...

Writing How Frequent Do You Need To Update?

Depends on the story and the writer. I find that once a week seems to go well with my stories. Keeps me from burning out or feeling rushed to publish a chapter that isn't ready, while being frequent enough for most people. While quicker updates can get more attention, I find quality is better...

Should I post the First Chapter?

Do you think you can keep a steady release schedule without a buffer? If you can, post it. If not, get a buffer of at least four or five chapters. It sucks having to rush and post an inferior chapter or even worse nothing at all, because you got in over your head.

    Good idea?

Clever idea. I'd read it. Heck I'd like to write it.

[for readers] what you consider a red flag when you're looking for a new story to read?

Poor spelling and grammar in the synopsis. I don't want to have to autocorrect as I'm reading.

    Word Count

Personally I wouldn't worry about it. Some people are better at writing long stories, others are better at short stories and novellas. But if you want to start lengthening them, plot things out, give yourselves a fair number of characters, side plots, etc. I'm not sure how much plotting you do...

    Age Gap Question

If they're both over 20, most people won't have a problem. Especially if the younger person is a man. If the younger one is 18-19, more people will find it iffy, but acceptable. Again if the younger one is male, most will see it as OK. If the younger one is 17 and under, or worse, under 12...

    How does your 'Characters' laugh?

I write that they laugh, chuckle, giggle, laugh hysterically, bitterly, sadly, etc. With Keir, my MC for Necromancer Unmanned, he frequently giggles, and hates it. He's trying to get it back to a chuckle.

    Idea Discussion

This is a good idea. The interplay between the characters will be nice to see and adds some real drama to the plot. And even if its been done before, it hasn't been done often. Also even if its been done before, doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.

    Idea Discussion

I really like this idea. I'd recommend making him being alone. Either most of the escort doesn't go with him and he's only left with the automated drones, or the escorts are all drones to begin with. This will challenge him more, as he struggles to ensure the drones aren't all destroyed by the...

Thanks. The characters and story will be easy for me. The leveling system will be the challenge, having never done it before. So good idea, just need to fill it out to ensure it holds up. I'll get on that.
