Yeah eclectic is a wonderful word. It's almost as good as eccentric, which I used to get it mixed up with a lot when I was younger.

Diaries can work, but it's difficult to keep steady story flow, which can make it hard for the reader to maintain interest. I know I got bored of the Diary of Erika Kron (or something like that) on RR.

Comments aren't really used for long drawn-out theorizing/discussion on novels, or at least it's a lot harder to do so in my experience. Forum threads are more productive like that. Comments are more helpful for communication with the author

I follow a bunch of stories regularly. It's only those that I'm not so interested in, but I think have redeeming qualities that I will binge read. That or an author who takes repeated long hiatuses will be binge read, since I don't really have motivation to follow something that doesn't update...

You probably want to make sure that authors who do review exchanges and post them online clearly indicate this in the review. It's something common on Webfictionguide and provides transparency.
