Me after 5000th jap mc said they don't wanna "Stand Out"

I've tried to think of a few examples of stories in which the "I don't want to stand out" trope is actually meaningful and done well. So here's a few reasons I thought of. The main reason I thought of is because the MC wants to live a quiet, peaceful life. This is probably the most common...

Me after 5000th jap mc said they don't wanna "Stand Out"

I'm absolutely fine with MCs not wanting to stand out... ... As long as they actually act like it and don't show off in front of every single character the author introduces; you really wouldn't expect that to be difficult, but noooo. It turns out that it's harder to keep a low profile than...

What Genres do you filter out?

Of course we need to. We need to draw even more attention to these tags to maximise the display of hatred we feel towards them. And then if anyone has disagreements with our taste, we can purge the earth from their existence. (y)

Where does wish fulfillment go too far?

SOL would like to make your acquaintance. As for the OP, we all have wishes. Some of those are good, some of them aren't so much. When a story portrays evil as good for the sake of wish fulfilment, I'd say it's taken a pretty wrong turn.

    English Rule Snobs

But... who pronounces "sorcerer" as "sor-cer-or"? isn't it just obviously "sor-cer-er"? Edit: It's also perfectly acceptable to start a sentence with "but" or "and"; It's just redundant and doesn't need to be added.

Are single word series titles at a disadvantage?

I would be very surprised if a single word managed to adaquately describe the premise of an entire novel, regardless of how niche that word is. If that word is a noun, what is that noun doing? If that word is a verb, what is the thing doing that verb? If that word is some concept, how is that...

    Any authors here who....

I would use the term disappointment more than spite; as for how it went... 22 months in, with 18 chapters (almost 20! yay!) and about 35k words written. As for how successful the story's been... well, at 35k words it's not much of a story so its hard to say :blob_teehee:

    Failed redemption arcs

I think the only satisfying reason you'll ever get is because that character doesn't actually want to change. That is, the character wants all the benefits of being a changed person, but doesn't want to become that changed person. In other words, I don't think it's possible unless: This is...

How do you create your power system (specifically, cultivation)?

I've been recently thinking about this topic too. Sadly, I have yet to arrive at a (fully) satisfactory answer. Here are my thoughts: First, the end goal is immortality, right? so I'd start with thinking about what that looks like practically. My thoughts on the matter would be that means an...

    Shatterborn?

I think the term sounds fine. It definitely sounds like an appropriate collective for monsters coming through rifts.

    Are Stakes Necessary?

I'd focus more on the idea of build-up and resolution. Resolution is the "fun part" of the story, but build-up is the part that makes the resolution fun. Every (maybe?) story then needs build-ups and resolutions. And "stakes and conflicts" are one of the ways to do build-ups in stories. But...

    Litrpg system justification?

As Cipiteca stated, out best "scientific" (lol) explaination for the creation of life is exactly this. I'll also state that people have come up with other ways to explain life and the universe. The obvious contender to this theory being creation by God. And thats the problem with the study of...

    Litrpg system justification?

I never said that. I said that treating a system in the same way as the laws of physics makes the system more believeable. Because the point is, your writing your story as if this "system" does exist, even though it obviously doesn't.

    Litrpg system justification?

Google search "realism vs believability" and hopefully you will understand what I mean. Its not about the system being realistic, its about the system making sense because people enjoy things that make sense. making sense =/= realistic.
