    Writing A Thread to Authors

INTENTIONALLY write NTR. When I accidentally did it, I got compliments on it (though there were also a few requests to kill off the guy who was being NTR'd)

    I'm tired of OP heros

I'm tired of people complaining about the power level of other writers' characters. They wrote the characters they either felt they needed to or that they believed readers wanted - if they're not getting an audience, then give them your opinion on what they're doing wrong... If they have an...

    Vikings Runes Question

The runes as full words thing was both how they started and how they were used in areas where not all those viking spoke the same language (some were Norse, others Rus, others more "pure" Germanic groups but all shared some common symbols and even the same gods, though they often said the names...

Lost lore you just couldn't fit in.

Lots of it. 40+ years worth. The world has been destroyed and rebuilt at least once. went from zero to one to two to three back to one moon (with reasons for all of these changes).

Forgotten Title A specific chinese novel where the MC's classmates can hear her thoughts

That sounds almost like one of the abandoned plot threads in, I think it was, Confessions of a Revenge Queen, an audio novel my wife listened to. They kept forgetting that she could project thoughts, or that she could sometimes read them, for about forty chapters, and then that power suddenly...

Why I don't write a lot and consistently

Well, gee, and I thought my "Writing is only the third most important of my four part time jobs" was a good excuse but no, this is better.

    Writing A Thread to Authors

Is it less than $50 per book? That seems to be the going rate around here for access to other worlds... That and whoring yourself out to find players (or going to conventions, which isn't much different)

    Writing A Thread to Authors

The most common advice I've seen veteran writers give hopefuls is best summarized as this: 1. Write 2. When not writing, read - read ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, even stuff you don't like, just read. 3. When not reading, go out and observe, watch people interact, observe nature, watch a traffic...

Weird notes you have that have forgotten the context for.

Depends on the edition of D&D ... though most of my friends are (like myself) either married (though some would probably be up for dating anyway...) or just "not playing THAT game (i.e. "dating") any more" Heh. When I moved from Chicago to Boston, I went through about 20 notebooks and kept the...

[Tutorial] For new users of Scribble Hub!

Unless your map is text, no - you would have to post it to an image hosting site or to this forum and then include a link to it. Also you can technically only upload one chapter at a time, but you can schedule multiple uploads (and if you do more than five in 24 hours you are usually flagged as...

How can I transmit that I am talking to the reader instead of narrating the story?

A lot of authors, at least in the 70s-90s, created a few words in other languages and inserted them into English text to give an alien feel to the language (also used non-standard syntax and grammar). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (and I try to use this myself), but it beats making a...

Advice needed: should I add the name of the character's POV in the chapter or not?

Oh, then you're just following a different character? Yeah, you should mention their name as early as practical but not shove it in the reader's face.

Advice needed: should I add the name of the character's POV in the chapter or not?

If it is first person, then you probably should, at least until your audience gets a feel for each character's "voice" - my wife was listening to an audiobook where the shifts were jarring (especially given that a woman was reading it and two of the three narrative characters were male).

As a reader, what do you like or dislike about dark fantasy?

AoT - Attack on Titan? Only saw two episodes and thought it was more science fiction than fantasy (though heard something about a genre redefining twist near the end that ticked off some fans, and justified the love others had for it so ...) or is this a different AoT?

    Recommendations Classroom isekai/apocalypse/deathgame

Closest I've seen to this one was the short-lived Doctor Who spin-off, Class. Unless there's some My Hero Academia fan-fiction that follows this mold. Oh, or Joel Rosenberg's Guardians of the Flame series - but that was not a WHOLE class, just a gaming group from one class, who's teacher was...

As a reader, what do you like or dislike about dark fantasy?

Ah - only saw the poll and didn't see the other two questions. 1. Answered above - I've seen too many wildly different things categorized as "dark fantasy" to be able to say "yes" or "no" - even within one single line (the Ravenloft novels from TSR back in the nineties), the variety was...

My Anime-Inspired Enemies to Something Story Voidlight

Just a heads-up - that is a great strategy for a PRINT novel, but for a webnovel, it all but guarantees the majority of your readers won't get to the real story.
