    Question

According to Google it could be a Star Trek reference ... or a novel here that nobody seems to have heard of.

What's the most important part of a fight scene?

My wife is friends with a guy who was deep into Hell's Angels for a while (got out after a few years of doing the illegal stuff, when he found legal ways to make the same amount of money with less danger). Never met him myself - talked to him once, very briefly on the phone but that's it - but...

Which idea would you rather read?

Why not a pirate academy? They fight for who gets what position on which ship, then go out raiding...

What are you most hated novels, why?

I have never bitten that bullet but I've heard that Twilight itself is really, really poorly written and the only thing worthwhile is the relationship between characters and world building. Meyers apparently grew a LOT as an author, and by the last book was competent, maybe even good, but...

sup gang. just joined today. how many chapters do you all suggest to upload per day?

If you can, keep an average of about 1500 words a day. If that means you take a day off because one was over 3k, while another day you have to post three to hit the target, so be it. Otherwise, three to four chapters the first day, and up to one a day for as long as you can maintain the pace.

A couple of questions about NSFW on patreon/other monetization services.

I have yet to use my Patreon account for anything but from what I've heard from others (mostly on Substack), if nobody complains, you can quite literally put up anything, but if even one person complains to them about your content, you'll be monitored and have stuff taken down within 48 hours of...

Writing a thesis or fiction, which is more difficult?

Depends on how much you enjoy research and whether you work best with a self-imposed structure (creative writing) or an externally imposed structure (thesis writing - also copy writing and some forms of journalism as well). For some, writing fiction can be MUCH harder because they don't have an...

    Does no one use footnotes?

Outside of comic books ("Amazing Super Dude Issue 45. 'Nuff said") I have only seen footnotes used by comedic writers - mostly the late Terry Pratchett (who had one brilliant set of footnotes daisy chained for about half a page drilling into a joke, deflating it and reinflating it) and Peter...

[CLOSED] No one wants to review your story? Here I am!

Your brain shifted from "reading = fun" to "reading = work/duty" - it's why I've been reluctant to apply for work where writing was a main point in the past.

    Does no one use footnotes?

Got used to working in situations where you couldn't use footnotes and got out of the habit.

I would like some feedback about my novels. I am hoping to make some improvements

Posting links here would help. Especially if you have multiple stories you'd like people to look at.

Does This Story Pull You In? Feedback Appreciated!

Geez - when I created Dane Coleman, I had only seen one other story published in the past five years with a lead named Dane... now there are over a dozen on PocketFM and at least three here!

How can I put my story in people's search results?

If it's not showing up in searches, either it's been blocked somehow (due to content, or suspected translation, possibly) or it hit a tech glitch and needs to be addressed in the Bug forum. Seriously.

How can I put my story in people's search results?

Bribe techs at Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo to insert it high in searches, of course.

I need suggestions for a fitting subtitle to my story.

Given the possible double entendre of "A Tale of Tails" it seems to fit best from your description. A question though - why "Monster Girl Chronicles" and not "Cat Girl Chronicles" - or will the series bounce between different focal ... monster girls every installment?

What are you most hated novels, why?

We're taking this pretty far afield. I kept trying to picture Moiraine and never could; the show was about as close as I could come to her but never quite felt right. Lan felt ... more accurate than what little detail Jordan provided on the man. But I didn't hate any of the books, just "grew...

What are you most hated novels, why?

It still amazes me that, as good as he was at SCENE descriptions, I only really knew what three of his CHARACTERS actually looked like (Rand, Perrin, Nynaeve) ... and the show only really got one of them (Perrin, though they came very close on Rand) right... The rest just had general age (or...

What are you most hated novels, why?

I think it was that early. Been a while so I may be off by a book or, at most, two, but it was halfway through the part he wrote on his own. Rumors got out shortly after the next book came out, and he confirmed them when he announced his search for a partner to take over in case he couldn't...

What are you most hated novels, why?

Well, Jordan found out he had a fatal medical condition that was going to impact his mental acuity during book five, and started looking for a person to work with at about the time he sent book six to the publisher. He and Sanderson plotted out, IIRC, two books completely, one of which he'd...
