    What did you learn today?

I learned that BTW stands for "Big Trucky Wucky"

    Never mind

It lays out the physical and emotional conflict of the story, but not the ending. How does that give away the whole story? It literally says he isn't a fighter. What part makes it sound like he's "woken up a badass"? You've already said you're not interested, and you made up two reasons to...

What is the hardest, heaviest, lightest, and easiest part of writing the plots in your novel?

Hardest/Heaviest (there's not really a difference for me): Exposition and banter. If I don't watch myself, I'll spend pages just infodumping all the important plot details on the reader. I'll try to work it more naturally into dialogue, but if I'm not equally careful, everything will devolve...

I don't want to Christmas right now

Here's a funny Christmas story: when I was a kid, it always confused me when Santa would bring me movies for Christmas. Like, toys I could understand, but you can't just "build" a movie in a workshop. You needed actors and stuff. So I decided that whenever a movie came out, Santa must have flown...

    Silent Hill F

The more I see of this game, the less it looks anything like Silent Hill. I'm 99% sure the decision to make it a Silent Hill game went something like this: Konami executive 1: "We have this action horror game based on Japanese mythology, but we're afraid it won't sell well because it's not part...

The first murder of my mystery novel has finally occured!

That's fine. Write whatever you want. Just don't expect most of your readers to be like "Fifty chapters in a row where nothing important happens? Christmas must have come early!"

The first murder of my mystery novel has finally occured!

That's not a good thing. Being a slow burn is fine (although it's possible to be too slow of a burn) but openly admitting that the majority of the plot is "dilly dallying" means that you're intentionally wasting your readers' time by stretching the story out with chapters that don't advance the...

Do you think your story measures up?

I have that thought every time I see a Sarah J Maas book. If she can get rich writing that crap, then there should be no reason I can't do the same. Then again, the fact that she has gotten rich off of writing that crap (and Stephanie Meyer and EL James) says a lot about the state of the market...

The first murder of my mystery novel has finally occured!

No offense, but the fact that it took 16 chapters for the first murder to happen in a murder mystery doesn't give me good feelings for the story's pacing.

I'm on a quest to find the best frozen pizza. In your puny earthling opinions, which brand is your favorite?

How long did it take before your first book gained traction?

Man, I've posted six books on this site (under three titles) over the past year, and I still don't have any readers or commenters. Maybe yours will be different. Just don't assume that it'll get more popular the longer it's been on here.

    Does RoyalRoad Suck?

I don't know what kind of tangent this thread got into, and I'm not going to get involved with it. So in regards to OP... A few years ago, a group of unknown authors on RR figured out how to manipulate the ranking system and get their stories more attention. They were all banned because gaming...

What are the 'behind the scenes' aspects of your fiction writing that are interesting?

Not a lot of people know this, but all my stories start off as empty word documents. The stories are actually an alchemical reaction you get when you combine certain letters in the English language together that, when directly observed, can cause mild hallucinations in the human brain.
