    Plug your story badly!

Alright, here-goes. The Elarian Chronicles - Volume 1: Duskfall All the gamers playing the game DUSKFALL got yanked into the world of Elaria, and are now trapped in the bodies of their game characters with no way home. The protagonists, Lucius and Morrigan, are thrust into an adventure a month...

What kind of fiction quality do you want to achieve as an author?

All of the above to varying degrees. The main thing on my list though, is to achieve the same timeless quality and mythic weight within my own style that the authors who have inspired me have within their own works. Not by striving to mimic them, mind you, but by carving my own path in the...

    Writing volumes for your novel.

Just dropping in to leave this bit here for reference, as the result of some research on my end. Light Novel: Usually within the range of ~5o,ooo to ~75,ooo words. (IE: Spice & Wolf, Log Horizon, Solo-Leveling, etc etc) Novella: Typically under 5o,ooo words Novel: Generally average at ~8o,ooo...

Fellow Authors, what do you do in your downtime? (When you're not writing)

As the thread title suggests, I'd like to know what some of the rest of you do in your off-hours. Basically, the time that you're not writing. How do some of you spend it? Do you watch TV? Movies? Anime? Play games? etc etc? Any other hobbies or interests that fill those hours that you'd like to...

Is this concept, at all, intriguing to you?

Intriguing, and certainly a unique take. I'd add it to my list of stuff to read for sure.

Power Fantasy Is Not Bad, Fight Me

As much as I'd love to keep going back and forth (for the sake of the nostalgia), I have a real fight to finish writing so I can get the next chapter segment posted on time. I'll check in again later. Until then, take care

Power Fantasy Is Not Bad, Fight Me

Nothing controversial there as far as I'm concerned. In truth it all comes down to the execution, and the concept (power-fantasy) isn't in-and-of itself a bad thing. Especially when it is presented as aspirational (IE: He-Man/Shera) or just crazy fun (IE: Conan the Barbarian) so long as it is...

Who are the active users on the forums from your POV?

Thank you for the compliment, El. I'd also like to add the following users to the list of active people here from what I've seen. @L1aei and @MakBow

What's your opinion on giving constructive feedback for folks who do generate AI slop?

??? Basically, it comes down to something one of my college professors told the class when we were tasked with critiquing each-other's work. + For every negative thing you bring up, try to bring up something positive as well. (So for everything the person did 'wrong', try to point out something...

Do you put your own stories in your own reading lists?

I neither add my stories to my reading list, nor rate them, nor favorite chapters in them, save for the one exception of the Setting "series" I added by accident while I was trying to figure out what things on the site do shortly after joining.

Authors, Do you plan your stories?

Absolutely. For the most part. There's one exception of mine where the planning is far looser, and open-ended, but otherwise all of my stories are thoroughly planned out well before I get to writing them.

Reaching the first Turning Point in my novel

Congrats on the accomplishment. Keep moving forward. Don't let yourself grow complacent.

What do you prefer personally? 1st POV or 3RD POV.

Personally, I don't like reading first-person stories in fiction. (Autobiographies; or brief character interludes would be the only exceptions.). Third-Person limited is my go-to, for both reading, and writing.

As a reader, what kind of protagonist would you be willing to follow in the story?

A character who feels human. Real, for lack of a better word, and one that isn't just another cardboard cutout or self-insert for wish fulfillment. There's a lot of other stuff I consider over the protagonist before choosing to read a story. PoV being a big one (3rd-limited preferred), setting...

Grimdark vs. Nobledark: Which fiction do you prefer?

Given the main (internal) conflict of The Elarian Chronicles (Hope-vs-Hopelessness) definitely what you're calling "Nobledark" here is what I prefer to write in. As for reading, it really is a case-by-case basis. IE: Berserk - Nothing "hopeful" about that one but I enjoyed the series quite a...

If Given A Choice, Would You?

Depends on a few things. 1) Can I keep writing and releasing said story and my others? 2) Who else/what else is coming with me? 3) Do I keep all of my "author knowledge" about the setting or not? 4) Do I end up as I am; or in a new body/character body? If the first question is a "Yes" then...
