On its own, this is a solid and tender enough little rock tune. However, as a Steely Dan song... Well, let's just say I understand why that boy got out of there. David Palmer's voice is a little too soulful, too genuine for the sardonic timbral grin of the Dan.

No, this is not a Bob Marley cover. This is a wonderful little indie pop-rock tune about how everything sucks and might not get better.

As a side note, the music video almost feels like a depressing companion piece to that of Bad Day by Daniel Powter. They complete each other. One is about a bad day, the other is about endless bad days.

The album might not be as transcendental as The Forever Story, but almost every track is a standout on account of JID exploring different sounds and styles. This one in particular just has some crazy catchy flows over a lowkey eerie beat. Some very pointed social commentary in the lyrics as well.
