I understand that j-rock bands are generally obsessed with youth, but few of them I feel capture the ambivalent sweatiness of adolescence quite like Number Girl.
Very energetic song with a vocalist who sounds like he's singing from a phone receiver placed on the opposite side of the room from the rest of the band.
Something about this just really turns me off, gives me the ick. Weirdly dystopian

This really was how Asian Kung-Fu generation burst into the scene. Unmatched raw energy on display here, the likes of which couldn't possibly be replicated by Gotoh-san on account of him singing like this for years, and also cigarettes probably. Early to mid 2000s Ajikan really was the shit.
