    When I was a kid, the local channel that aired shows like Spongebob and Naruto would actually not pause episodes during commercial breaks. So after a couple minutes of commercials, you'd go back to the show with a couple minutes of missing context.

    Ping Pong the Animation is an incredible show with a transcendent opening song. Just pure, hard, and unapologetic rock with lyrics that resonate with the show's themes.

    Manipulation in and of itself is kind of abusive. Yes, there is good and bad manipulation tactics but isn't the act of manipulation an abuse of the manipulatee?

    When I stated positive connotation, what I meant is the impact on the manipulatee rather than supposed tactics used.

    Positive connotation as in the manipulatee did not feel any negative emotion ie sad/ angry/ fear. Also, it meant that the manipulatee's wellbeing isn't negatively impacted ie socially withdrawn, loss of health and wealth.

    Having someone willing to serve you hand and foot might be enabling, which will lead to future spirals of dependence, in the short run it does make you feel good.

    Fuck it, let's just say it's anisong week.

    Today's anisong is Rashisa, the everwarm opening to Barakamon. This song makes me feel human, no other way to put it. It's so comforting in sound and in message, like a bowl of miso soup in a home you know you can return to.

    I've seen this sentiment floating around in the anime community that modern anime fans hate (straight) romance series, like it's a shift in the tides.

    As a guy who reads a lot of romance manga and is also jaded as hell towards a lot of it, I can assure that that is not the case. A lot of romance manga is just slop. So much of it is ass.

    I wouldnt call it brazilian spirit, i would call it a shameless move by certain advertising individuals over there. The guy running the poll even sent a letter to the 8th place guy apologising an said they were morally one of the New 7 Wonders.

    Anyway, I thought the show itself was kind of underwhelming for a "sick girl romantic drama," mainly due to the characters being insufferable.

    The opening song, on the other hand, is a shot of mono no aware straight into the veins. Perfect for this kind of contemplative mid 2000s light novel adaptation. It's so breezy, but a melancholic breeze. Like it carries some scent that you recognize but can't put a name to. So you're left to linger along with it, or something.

    A good friend gave me the incredibly obvious advice of "Oh you know just write even if it's messy and shitty. You can fix it later. That's what a first draft is, dumbfuck", so I'm going to write. I'm gonna do it. It'll be an elucidating experience for all parties involved
