As per the title, I think we should sometimes remind ourselves of those who support us rather than those who don’t.

So what is the single most memorable thing a reader has written to you that made you smile? Could be as simple as a “Tftc” or something as grand as “Your work is truly inspiring. Could we discuss your storyline more on disco— ”

Maybe not that grand.

Anyway, share your story.

If you mean EVER, it was when a friend of mine told me his class spent nearly 45 minutes - about 3x as long as it took me to write! - discussing a piece accepted for our college's literary magazine. One of my goals as a writer is to make people think - even if what they think is "what an a-hole" or "why did I waste my time reading that?" they're still thinking...

#2 was probably "Interesting and different, I like it" on Pocket FM ... from my wife ... who only stuck with the story for 44 of now 99 chapters...

How is this not your top pick? Wifey’s eyes could be everywhere you know.

Hmm.. maybe when a reader notices the foreshadowing... and asks me, "what will happen next?" I reply to her comment by releasing the next chapter.
It is rewarding that readers read your book closely and notice subtle details.

When my readers begged me to continue the story but I'm evil so
Some women just wanna watch the world burn.

"I don’t think I’ve laughed
Making readers laugh out loud is a skill.

Heh - she doesn't bother with message boards (especially writing ones - maybe occasional political ones) and told me why she dropped the story (didn't like all the "military jargon" that crept in - 99% of it straight from Star Trek but with the serial numbers filed off, by the way - and its only for four or five chapters... plus the MC WAS a Marine so...).

Best one I ever got has to be what one person said about "Down to the River" on Furaffinity:

"You managed to blow me away with this one! Seriously I haven't read a cooler story about a river siren in my life. You need to get stories like this one wrapped up into an anthology because you can rival *any* science-fiction or fantasy writer of the age. Why you're not published more, why you're not a household name, why people aren't begging for your autograph at signings just flat out confuses me!"

I did eventually release an anthology of my horror and supernatural stories on Amazon where it was ranked pretty high at the time for a while. I just loved the idea that someone thought that good about me, not just the story, but that I should be renowned overall...

It felt really good.😁😊

That depends....was that person genuinely interested in my work, or did they want to rob me blind?

Recency bias? Let’s see. Someone admitted they are my stalker after reading my shitposting?! I suppose that counts as a reader. Maybe. Probably. You can’t change my mind.

Actual readers? A few of my author friends admitted I’m their favorite author. Yes. Absolutely no bias at all. Nope.

Since I'm actively stalking you, I know exactly who you're talking about by pure coincidence and no other reason.
(just realized I wasn't even a follower of you until now. that's how amazing i am)

I was recently asked what else of mine they could read, they liked it. They're caught up on my releases now after binging, and wanted something to keep them occupied. I was touched. Of course I acquiesced to a demand like that. If I could clone this reader, I could write for a living.

@pangmida is the most encouraging voice for my writing and I will consider myself blessed forever that I got so lucky to have her as a reader and a friend. Talk about comments, she wrote a fanfic of my story!! (which yall should absolutely read, it is incredible: The Withered Red Spider Lily)

Not to mention how much art she draws for others and that her own writing is as good as any published novellist today. It makes me so happy and motivated to keep on creating!
