What’s the actual use of the “Follow” feature on the forum?

Genuine question out of curiosity.
What do you personally use the Follow button for on Scribble Hub forums?
Is it mainly to:
1.keep track of authors you like?
2.see more of someone’s discussions?
3.get notifications for new threads?
4.or just a “hey, I like how you think” button?
I’m curious how different people use it, since it doesn’t seem as obvious as story follows.
Would like to hear how others see it.

On the forums?
Practically and pragmatically? No reason at all.

But for people you interact with on the forum, and like those interactions
You can see what they are up to recently by following them and then looking at the "News Feed Tab" occasionally.

Of course, some people choose not to share their news feed, so "following" will not add anything.

So it's pretty useless

So it's pretty useless
It is also an indicator of, "Ah, I like the cut of your jib, friend."

But for a person that do like anyone, and does care about what people on the forum do, whether the people they talk to live or they die, yes, it would be pretty useless, I imagine, but so are all social media platforms.

:blob_hmm_two:
Edit:

I suppose there are other uses

For example, at this moment, only people I follow can see my profile and get my newsfeed, so it's also a way for me to stay reclusive and out of people's way.

I use it to spy on what threads people are viewing sometimes. Since I will see them online before other members. Also follow a lot of people though.

Me following people to stalk them, only to use the "latest activity" tab that shows everyone's activity anyway.

Stalking people can get you into a real problem. ?

to me, its basically my friends list. Its how I use it.
I'm new here, and ironically the poster right below you, eldoria. She liked a few of my first forum posts, so I followed her.
so technically I only have one friend so far. I'm noticing a few more seem to comment okay in my forum posts, might start adding them and checking out first chapters here and there.

It helps you stalk someone.
Do not follow me. I will hide my status.

Don't really use it. I just scroll through the what's new page and comment on whatever I find worth my input or my roast.
