This question is mainly for writers on Scribble Hub ?
At what point did you decide to open a Patreon for your story?
1.After a certain number of chapters?
When you hit a reader milestone?
2.Or only once you felt confident in your writing quality?
I’m especially curious whether you waited until:
1.The story had a stable audience
2.Readers asked for it
3.Or you just went for it early and figured things out along the way
For newer writers, do you think opening a Patreon too early hurts or helps motivation?
Would love to hear real experiences—both good and bad.
I think this could help a lot of beginner authors (including me).

I am opening my patreon after publishing only amounted to at most 1.2k dollars a month. I am already posting on it, but I am waiting until it has 11 chapters to start uploading the story for free. At that point, I can keep the patreon 10 chapters ahead always. I have confidence in my ability to gain readers, but I can't tell you how fast it will happen.

With a new account, things can be uncertain if you're not established. I like to claim that I helped @Zinless get more patrons, but it was all because of his own ability. Writing quality does matter, but you need a consistent upload schedule and to write something readers want.

Also! Royal Road advertisements! Royal Road has a way better turnover rate from readers to subs from what I have seen in the industry.

Backlog is critical. If you ever have a week when you are sick, you will need to have that backlog. 11 chapters is probably too short of a backlog. You don't need to upload every day for Patreon, but it depends on the size of your chapters. If you are doing 1.5k word chapters, you will need like 3 a week.

I guess my story won't have 1.5k chapters, it's a overstatement for my humble novel ?

I started my Patreon about four months ago. At the time, I had no idea what I was doing, so I was just asking everyone to join, lol. You could say I launched it when my story was already halfway finished

Set one up the day before I came to this site, but have never actually used it. Was about 7-12 chapters in all the stories I've posted.
