I've got two characters ready for the litrpg I'm building in my head, but I can't decide which one to make the main character. I like them both, and I'm definitely going to include both in the story. I think both have the potential to inspire some really cool stories. But, there's only room for one main character. If you were skimming through books on SH, which of these would you be more inclined to stop and give a look?
1. Artificer: he has the power to collect raw materials in his "mindforge" and then craft them into weapons before spawning them into the real world. He specializes in magic weapons. He doesn't have much fighting prowess on his own, so he relies on always having a wide assortment of unique and creative weapons and artifacts on hand that can get him out of almost any situation. He can also create structures in a Fortnite-esque way. This would allow his arsenal to periodically change whenever he comes across something he doesn't have a solution for, and hopefully the readers would be drawn to keep reading just to see what he invents next.
2. Shapeshifting Summoner: while technically a summoner, his powers work differently than most because he has to physically transform his body into the creature he's summoning. This is because he collects new creatures to summon by capturing their souls after slaying then, and since they no longer have physical bodies to be summoned into, he lets them "borrow" his own. This would introduce a sort of Pokemon, "gotta catch 'em all" aspect to the story since every monster encounter could potentially end with him getting a new form to change into. Plus, the whole "sharing a body with monsters" thing could introduce some neat subplots. Do the monster souls influence him? How much control do they have? Is he safe to be around? Etc.
Which main character would you guys be more inclined to read a story about?
