Poof! You were transmigrated. You landed in a world where there is only people of the opposite gender. In other words, if you are a man, there are no men in this world, and the people of this world are unfamiliar with the concept of men.
The humans of this single-gender isekai world have an alternative ABO biology. In other words, women and reproduce with women and men can reproduce with men. However, all people generally see themselves as the same gender, and A-type (wo)men look the same as O-type (wo)men.
As an alien to this universe, most people think that you look strange.
They think your hair is weird/ugly (too short or too long), and similarly speaking they think your clothing is bizarre. They also think that any extra tissue on your body is like a cancerous growth, and occasionally you get suggestions that they know a good surgeon who can cut it off. :sweating_profusely::sweating_profusely:
You go to a clothing store, and they only have clothing that you would ordinarily think of as belonging to the opposite sex (i.e. dresses, swimming suits...). And various other aspects of gender expression and other things seem to fall along your stereotypical understanding of the opposite gender on Earth.
Anyhow, would you cross-dress in this isekai world of only one gender?
Or would you be okay with getting odd looks whenever you go out on the streets?

1. Would you cross-dress in a world of only one gender? Why or why not?

2. Suppose that a magical fairy gives you a potion that can magically change your appearance to the opposite sex. Would you use this potion? If yes, how often would you use it?

3. Suppose that the magical fairy also offers a permanent gender-bending potion. Would you take it?

4. How much pressure do you feel to conform with society? What if you started applying to jobs and attending job interviews?

I mean I wouldn't because like at the end of the day, I would be fundamentally different from the people of the world so that's sorta obvious that I would get strange looks and so on and so forth. Trying to conform to society would just be ignoring the problem and pretending like everything was alright, in my opinion. At the end of the day, the fact that I am fundamentally different would not change- therefore there is no reason to hide such a fundamental difference. And as far as the potion, I still wouldn't take it because uh no. Just no.

I think that would depend entirely on exactly how they reproduce... I am Male, so that means they would all be women, would they reproduce like Asari (ie they all have vaginas and use some sort of magic mumbo jumbo to reproduce)? or would some of the women be futanari (or a dickgirl of some variety)

Because if it's the latter, Well... I like futanari so that would like heaven on earth (or rather.... not earth) if it's the former I would almost certainly not change or crossdress I am already a social pariah here, and toga's are relatively easy enough to make from some sheets

Hm...
I am concerned that I might feel a massive amount of dysphoria in this world. I dress fairly androyonusly IRL, but society seems to regard me as a freak. If I take the gender-bending potion, my brain will match my body, right? And I won't feel any discomfort in regard to my gender identity, correct?

It's the former! They're unfamiliar with the concept of "dicks" being an organ on people's bodies

Well the gender-bending potion will cause you to have a body similar to most people in the world that you end up in...

...so it could still be dysphoric if you're nonbinary.

Is there a guarantee that I won't regret it? That nothing will go wrong? If not, what's the point?

Well... the point of the potion is so that you can blend into the new society better.

It's not really a potion that's intended to give you the body you want, I guess?

I'm very concerned about how it will affect my mental health, so no. Hard no.

1. Nope... Because I don't see the point and it weirds me out...
2. Sure... To see how I would turn out... If its bad, I wouldn't use it again, if its good, I would continue using it... or... if 3 is a thing...
3. I might use it, if it turns out the results are good based on the temporary potion...
4. Umm... Not much?

So I'm basically stuck in toxic masculinity land where everyone is a short-haired macho-macho man and I'm being pressured to become the same? Aside from living to find a way home, is there even a point to continuing on in this hellhole?

I would take a temporary potion to attend job interviews, the same way I dress/act heterosexual for them in the real world, and I might take them to maintain a persona at work, depending on how neccesary it is. But it drops as soon as I leave. I'm just doing it to get the money to survive.

Also, whoever recommends me a surgeon to get my breasts taken off is getting recommended a surgeon to fix their face. No mercy.

Wouldn't it be rather toxic homosexuality? I mean, they have men's bodies and like having sex and reproducing with men. Moreover they wouldn't know or want a girl so... Do they count as men in that sense?
I'm saying, a man in that world would certainly be more than happy of finding a girl tho...

(Queer men are men? Of course they count as men.)

No. The "stereotypical" masculinity is non-queer and almost entirely defines itself by being "not feminine" (and not queer, because queer is believed to be feminine). So I'm not even sure how it would operate in a world where the feminine doesn't exist but, by the rules of the game, I have to assume it does.

That kind of masculinity comprises of crap like my dad refusing to use lip balm, hand cream, moisturiser or even masks right now, out of the belief that all that stuff is feminine.
It means never taking care of yourself, doing dangerous and risky crap for no good reason other than to avoid making people think you might care about your own well-being, having 0 fashion sense because caring about clothes is a "feminine trait", never expressing emotions - or, if you must, never in a healthy way...

There are even way crazier beliefs, like "men shouldn't have pets they care about", "men shouldn't care about their mothers", "men shouldn't drink lemon water", etc.

But even if we just stick to the basics... I already live with two dumbasses who are actually like that. It's physically painful. My mental health would not survive a whole world of people like that.

But that's the thing. If you have a world that only has men, would they even get a concept like what being a "masculine/macho man" is?

I say it because, when I read the post, what I thought of was a bunch of anime Ikemen getting handsy with each other and wanting nothing to do with a vagina or a pair of breasts. I would find it quite frustrating to be honest. I thought you were talking in the sense as
Look at all that eye candy; so close yet so far (º ﹃ º )
And it would be like "Fuck yes! Ikemen"
But they would be "No way! No dick no touch!"

Who knows? It seems like a perfectly impossible situation to me, and yet the post clearly states this:
And various other aspects of gender expression and other things seem to fall along your stereotypical understanding of the opposite gender on Earth.

But, honestly, even if you placed me in a world of actually normal men, I don't think I'd hold up well. With nobody else able to understand my gender, wouldn't it be impossible to respect it? Wouldn't it be constantly under pressure, with society trying to erase or ignore it?

Dysphoria must be inevitable, and there'd be no hope of relieving it, because I'd be well and truly alone on the planet.

1. No. With my face and body type there is no way I could pass as woman so dressing as one is useless.
2. Once. To try it. Then depending on result and my needs
3. Depending on result from 2
4. No idea. It's not about how I feel pressure, but how much they will pressure me. Maybe they are way over something like that and they won't care
