Fun Fact:
Christmas was not the day Jesus was born, neither is it a holy day.

I never liked Valentine's day for a very similar reason - the way all of it is expected, sometimes almost forced, robs the symbolism of the meaning it's supposed to have.

I once made a similar thread like this about Valentine's day exclusively, about how people too often focus on the "gifts" and "expensive rings" than actual romance, at least around where I live at. I didn't receive any applause though. Just got ass-blasted by an internet mob more moist than the day after ending no-nut november.

I agree partly with OP though. Some people's family members die on Christmas day, and it thus becomes a day or mourning instead of celebration. It's like I tell everyone; you can't force your beliefs onto other people, but in this case you cannot force joy and sadness onto others either. You can try, but it won't go the way you expect.

It's still important to try and have one day of the year to appreciate what we do still have; doesn't have to be on a national holiday ~ I just think it's personally important.

Christmas is supposed to be magical, with joy, love, and cheers. But it’s not like that for everyone, and that’s okay.

The same songs, over and over again, repeat for weeks, feel less like a celebration and more like auditory torture.

Red, green, and gold everywhere. For some, it’s festive but for others, It’s like someone puked a kindergarten craft project all over society. And if you happen to be red-green color blind, let's say it’s just... blobs. No offense @greyblob.

Picking the “perfect” gift and worrying about the budget... It’s just exhausting and feels less about generosity and more about obligation.

There’s this unspoken rule that you have to be happy during Christmas. But life doesn’t magically stop being hard in December. For some, all that pressure just makes things worse.

If Christmas is supposed to celebrate Christ, what’s with all the overspending and chaos? If Christ walked into your local mall right now and saw the overspending, the gluttony, the frantic sales, and the hollow consumerism he’d probably flip the Christmas tree over like the money changers’ tables. It feels more like a Black Friday sale than a holy celebration.

The global spread of Christmas as a “universal” holiday? A colonialist project wrapped in tinsel and stuffed in stockings.

At its core, Christmas is capitalism’s crowning achievement. Everything from the decorations to the music is designed to make people spend more. It’s a holiday built on convincing people that overspending and competition are somehow synonymous with love and goodwill. Christmas isn’t some universal season of joy; it’s a giant marketing ploy wrapped in fake sentimentality and topped with a guilt bow.
Sorry but I can't relate. A normal Christmas experience for me is a carol and the 9 lessons a day before the event. Church in the morning and then visiting every single relative you don't even know you had. I usually gain a few pounds this time of year

Screw Christmas, celebrate Solstice, summon the Other Gods!
Yog-Sothoth is a distant cousin of the house chef of an aquaintaince of mine who I talked to for a few minutes at the airport. I can tell you that it loves the smell of its own brand. But still less over rated than Cthulhu. Summon me instead and we can sing Baby Shark on loop for 12,000 years, or you can. I'll be flying off to some other distraction until I remember to extract your soul and put in some other situation.

Thanks for the offer, real sweet, but I have to refuse. I'm a regular for Yog'Sothoth. His wife Shubby and I go way back, you see. So I'm kind of obligated to support his whole family business ever since he decided to man up and finally pay for her 1000 children. He's pretty busy being the gate and key, so he really only has time to run it every solstice, so my soul is fully booked during these times! I'll keep you in mind for Walpurgisnacht though, a coven I know is always looking for new pagan deities to summon.

I'm actually a huge fan of Yog. Love his work. Most elite of the elder gods. Put in a good word for me. And forget everything I said about smells and brands, unless it pertains to actual branding. More than honored to take any left overs into my humble little dung pit of insanity and torture. Oh, look at the time, gotta make some you-tube streamers go insane. I always take the low hanging fruit, lack of talent. Tah! Tah!
