Carefully.
A real pessimist would not concern themselves with half full or empty. They would be questioning if someone spit in the cup. I love the image of three glasses of apple juice. One says he's half empty the half full. The last questions if he's full of piss. There is no difference. It's just a matter of perspective. A pessimist would think the glass is half-empty while an optimist would think the glass is half-full.

I am the fat one.
The words used. Half-empty and half-full are not the same, after all.what
I will try to explain it scientifically. If the glass is half full then it implies that the glass was being filled up and is only halfway from being filled. If it's half empty then it implies that liquid was being removed from actions such as drinking or spilling the liquid. It is halfway to being empty. It's become an argument or pessimist vs optimist but it's really just an indication of actions taken involving the glass and the liquid.
They can still be an optimist if the half-empty glass is the last bit of water a person stranded in the desert has that the optimist wishes a cruel death from dehydration upon.I say that a person who sees a half-full glass is an omptimist, and a person who sees a half-empty glass is an optimist who learned the truth.
