What tags bring the most traffic to your story?

Gender Bender, Transgender, and Smut seem to be the main three cycling at the top. Which makes sense, in retrospect, my title does kind of shout those things, so if you're searching under those tags, you're somewhat more likely to at least give it a look, I think, whereas if you're searching for something else and those don't interest you, you're pretty likely to go "ah, not for me".

Yandere was very high up there on the most recent one, which was intriguing-- but I think that's just because I realized it should probably have the Yandere tag yesterday, and Yandere-searching people were like "ooh, new thing!"? But, maybe Yandere is just super popular? I don't know.

...I don't feel I can be sus of my readers for the tags I myself have put in, really.

Yeah, I added several tags I didn't know existed or didn't think were relevant at the start, but Yandere is the most popular one. Maybe the people who are into Yandere are really crazy for the trope they love.

I chose many niche genres because I write a niche style of historical fantasy. Because some are lesser-used genres, I've gained a higher rank by comparison. It acts like extra advertising for niche viewers who would actually want to read it while also making it easier for people to find it. Kind of like having AAA on your business name so it shows up at the front of the phonebook. Make sure that your tags are accurate to what you are writing so as to not make your readers angry but find your niche. What part of your story or plot can make it stand out amongst the rest? What are you doing differently? What of these are are popular and/or niche? Once you know the answers to each of these questions then decide which combination of them would produce the highest results.

I am in jealous awe. I have #2 in Priest right now but I never get any Priest traffic.

I like to do this data analysis every once in a while for fun, although it doesn't change that much on the top end: Gender Bender, Smut, trans tags, GL in that order. Below that, the remaining 20-25% of tags changes up much more.
