I am bored and I supposed no one would really answer this question seriously.
This trolley question was posed to a CN MC, the context is as such:
You are a merchant who amassed massive wealth via legitimate methods. You then used said wealth to enrich your family and community.
Then one day, you were arrested by the king and the charge was treason. You, your family and community were dragged to the front of the king.
The king was benevolent, instead of executing you lot on the spot, he gave you a choice. Choose a group, your family versus the community, to die and he shall spare you and the one not chosen.

Because they both had to be dragged alongside me, instead of coming of their own free will to defend me, and after everything I'd done to help and/or aid everyone around me.. Then they just sat there, and let the king decide my fate without speaking on my behalf. nobody did anything. there was no plot against the king. -not even a peep. but that's just based off your prompt.
**on the off chance that you change the prompt to make them (family and/or community), at the very least, sound thankful, or resentful against the king for bringing me in- Then, things might have been different. but as it stands. they fear the king more than the good graces i had provided out of my apparent pure, and giving generosity.
Now, outside of the prompt. that's a whole other story. lol.
my childhood community was horrible. and my parental figures/ guardians were non-existent, soooo, yea, still both!

Now that, both family and community are gone, can i use my infinite wealth to hire mercenaries to remove the king from his kingdom **permanently**, and become leader of the kingdom?

but your dream might be dashed, assuming the king isn't a complete retard and not ward against you. Just because he didn't execute you for Treason doesn't mean he can't execute you for another reason.
I choose not to choose, and then got killed with strong sense of anguish and anger together with the family and the community.
Only to be revived again years later as a lich, revived my family and community as the undead, and begin my journey for revenge to the kingdom.
And especially finding the mastermind who framed me with the false treason.
.....ok can somebody write this story? i want to read what happen next

Also, I think there are at least three JPs having your idea written out, go NovelUpdates to see.
Seeing how it has been two hours since I posted, I will now reveal the answers.
For context, some posh douche decided to visit MC out of the blue and casted an illusionary domain on MC mid conversation.
MC was hypnotized into believing that he's just a rich merchant with his actual family and friends and community getting superimposed into the exam's in order for a more authetic result.
Here is the choices and what they meant.
1. Choosing family to die and therefore community shall live: the person is a good doggo who could be used by the actual king and organisation because he can sacrifice his own kin for the greater good; in this case, society/ community and hence, the king and organisation. So treat him properly.
2. Choosing community to die and therefore family shall live: the person is an understandable doggo. Bad for the king and organisation but understandable. So the way to proceed with such doggo is to capture his family and use them as leverage in order for the king and organisation to have him work properly.
The secret options are as such.
Choosing nothing in the end. There is a five seconds timer for a good reason and if he chooses nothing, he's a retarded doggo. Someone who is frozen by tough choices and can't act in adversity is mediocre and isn't worth to be given goodies. Instead, he's expendable.
Choosing to sacrifice both options for self interest makes him a vicious doggo. Treat the subject with extreme caution as someone so selfish is fully capable to stab the king and organisation in the back when it suits him. Provide adequate care to prevent betrayal but discard/ destroy immediately when there is sign of rebellion.
Sacrificing oneself to save both choices. This is the best doggo! Perfect for suicidal missions and while his loyalty isn't properly tested yet, having the will to unalive oneself in order to achieve the greatest good is admirable.
So what did MC choose?
While the git was expecting one of the five, MC chose sixth.
Even if he's a useless feeble man in the illusion, MC still chose to struck down the haughty king.
Even if the bastard was surrounded by guards, it did not stop MC remembering who he was as he charged straight through with sword in hand.
Bear in mind that the git was also present in the exam as the king. So he was shocked to see the never-before-seen sixth option. And then he got to see his vision suddenly flew high, dropped down whilst spinning and spotted the headless king, still on throne, before smacked the ground hard.
Don't mistake my inaction as indecisiveness. It takes 5 seconds for the poison to kill the king and everyone else in the room. My family and community is immune.

Sounds like skill issues. If it were me, I wouldn't have been arrested because I have arrived in the next nation to ruin. Why is the edge of their coins smooth! We must fix that!
