I'm a writer who used to write stuff about action, and military fantasy during my early days of writing, and currently i've been binge readin, watching, a bunch of slice of life and romcom stories. Well, trying my best to write one too...

In one of the writing websites I used to post aside from SH, i have a bunch of readers who ended up mixing a bit too well...

How the hell do military fanatic readers with military anime characters or WH40K character PFPs mix well with rom-com readers? That shit blew my mind!

I get that maybe they get to resonate a bit with the story and stuff, but just looking at it in general... How..? Maybe it's just me or thats how i look at it in my perspective

Has anyone else who used writes in different genres, or read other types encountered those types of readers?

Tanks and anime girls. Giant guns and anime girls. Eldritch horror and cute anime girls. Vampires and sucking.

What do all of these have in common? It is no surprise that they all go together just like lunchmeat and rice. I mean... lunchmeat and bread.

military theme, girls with guns genre and cute girls doing cute things is one of those weird crossovers that shouldnt work but does astoundingly well. add in some level of girl's love to the mix and you have an glorious unholy combination of cute, sexy and DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA.

there are few things more likely to stir a male (and some female) reader's interest than cute girls with guns (or tanks or planes or ships or eldritch abilities) who may or may not be lesbians of varying levels of uselessness. and i'm speaking from experience here.

that extends to fanfiction too. there are a LOT of GL Youjo Senki fanfics out there.

High fantasy and drama mix very well, I want to read about how a depressed man found a friend in slime after his main wife cursed the other wives to turn into frogs.

But really, high fantasy makes us look at things from a different perspective!

The simplicity of "protagonist is good, villain is bad" with any of form of complicated relationships make for a pleasant read.

Old men (both in appearance and personality) and isekai. You never see it, but when it happens and author delivers it's good.

litrpg, civilization development.

It works well but most authors in that section are iliterate or stupid.

On Webtoons, I've seen at least two of them that appear to be a mashup of psycho thriller and romance.

You basically have to play up the yandere angle to have it work, though.

(Modern/futuristic) Technology and magic. (Source: Zeal from Chrono Trigger)
Was this futuristic technology powered by magic? Yeah. But still, technology and magic are generally opposites.
