Feedback welcome: Emotional sci-fi, ethical dilemmas, narrative rhythm

Hi everyone, I’m Sergio — physician, clinical educator, and debut author of a speculative sci-fi novel that isn’t about the end of the world… but about the end of something more intimate: The will to choose.

What is The Story of Nemi?

It’s a novel about a survivor named Nemi, who walks through a broken world not with vengeance, but with memory. He wears an exosuit powered not by logic, but by emotional resonance. The more he feels, the more dangerous he becomes — and the more human he must remain.

Alongside him:
– Emily, whose memories are weaponized against her
– Kiru, a one-eyed dog who only obeys feelings
– Lot, a scientist who records ethics on an old tape recorder
– A squad of broken souls who never gave up

The AMX suit doesn’t obey. It interprets. And what it learns from emotion… it never forgets.

Core themes:

– Neurotechnology, trauma and identity
– Emotional AI and free will
– Symbolic resistance vs engineered obedience
– Memory as a weapon. Love as the interface

Looking for feedback on:

– The emotional weight of the prose
– The pacing (slow-burn, symbolic, reflective)
– The philosophical depth: does it land, or feel too much?
– Would you keep reading? What lingers?

I’ll leave you with one question:

“How far can the human brain be transformed… before it stops being human?”
If that stays with you after reading…
then maybe this story is already yours.
