The portrayal of slimes in fantasy novels

I was curious to read what you guys thought of the way that slimes as monsters are portrayed in fantasy novels. What are the most common ways for them to be used in such stories? What would be considered as an uncommonly ways for slimes that appear in such novels? It would be nice to read your opinions on the matter.

We've pretty much done everything we could with slimes at this point. Heck, using them as normal monsters seem more uncommon nowadays.

Slime is either weakest enemy or actually super strong. Sometimes they can be people because anime. The only way I've never seen them is at a power level we're you're like, "Yeah it's decently strong but other things are better."

Slimes that are sapient and not just wild animals/monsters. Hardly seen them outside of slime girls (not sure if they count) and that isekai slime one (not sure if this counts either since they were originally human).

There's a story about a demon lord that gets 'killed' and befriends a sentient slime as his sidekick on his way to becoming demon lord again.

Kind of funny story where all the demons he talks to are super supportive of his dream, claiming he can't be worse than the last demon lord, completely unaware that it was him.

What made slime so versatile is because of its formless blob style.

If piloted by a smart person and with the ability of BS growth, then even the weakest shit can be the strongest.

To hell, Re:Monster MC is strong because of his absorption ability, not because he is a goblin. Which creature can absorb the best? Slime.

Also, slime as a mind control parasite. The multi-cored slime queen in Everyone Loves Large Chest is the prime suspect as she implanted pieces of herself into people to control them like puppets.
