The overwhelming positive response on whether I should post my story here (‘The One Being Protected [Magical Girl Urban Fantasy]’) has made me remember that SH is one of the nicer communities to post Webnovels… My only concern is being… How you say… ‘review bombed’ by that AI account again. I don’t want to keep changing my account over this.

Some of you may be thinking that such Internet situations are common and that I’m using this as an excuse to… ‘beg’ for an early review of my novel early on at the 10th chapter mark.

Well you got me!

Haha…

I’m planning to post the novel along with the new chapter later on today. Don’t know if I got a ‘SpaceBattle’(?) or something account but I’ll check what that platform is. Think of this as a thank you for the support since I’m probably going to be tied to this novel for a while.

An early review would be nice but it won’t affect my motivation or schedule. I just felt it would be unfair if newer readers didn’t give it a chance due to a misleading review. 10 chapters are also enough to get a sense if you like it or not.

Does it have to be positive? Not really. As stated, any criticism itself won’t really change my motivation to write this specific story (since this project is built on a 5 year passion and I ain’t about to throw it all away because of a dislike).

I just hope an AI won’t be writing it. That other user kinda gave me some trauma with AI…

Anyway, thank you for being such nice people.

Apparently, yes. Even making a new account specifically to drop it. At the time I was giving opinions and criticisms around fairly lightly so I’m unsure exactly who got offended enough to do that.

Edit: Honestly I thought being more active as a reviewer would be helpful but it turned out people have too much free time online and are more petty than I imagined. Don’t really feel any urges to comment or review stuff anymore.
I once made a joke about a review I got sounding like AI wrote it. But that's actually something people do? o.ö

Ah, well, yes, I feel that one. RoyalRoad or ScribbleHub?
I'm asking, because on RR I posted exactly one Review (in a Review Swap). After I dropped that review, which was very long, with explanations, examples, and conclusions to what I was getting at, I got a bad review that mirrored a lot of my gripes with the other story, with a lot of empty sounding claims in it that were just piled on. Things sometimes sounded smart at first glance, but didn't make sense inherently.
It was written as if I had typed a prompt into some AI generator, saying "List off all common mistakes in writing, make it sound critical" with only the blurb text as reference material xD

This one. ScribbleHub. Guy made an account SPECIFICALLY to comment and write a bad AI assisted review of my work.

That's been my experience as well. There are people on RR who will proceed to follow you over to continue to harass and hate rate/review you over on SH after you've blocked them on RR. And in general, neither set of admins responds to or punishes that sort of behavior.

The only winning move, unfortunately, is simply not to play.

I'm glad that you've had such a wonderful experience and hope that continues as you grow in your writing journey! Just keep yourself humble enough for criticism while taking pride in the work you've accomplished. Keep us up to date as well.:blob_cookie::blob_sir:

At least getting a half star on RR doesn't kill your visibility, so the competitive types don't have any motivation to quietly snipe possible ranking threats with well disguised alt accounts. It's free and fair because nobody has to pay for endless advertising or game the system to get a modicum of visibility. And their ranking mid-list is easily accesible without clicking a million times, it's not like they dump authors who don't pay for visibility into an invisible stack unless they churn out a billion new chapters.

Still better than Wattpad and Webnovel. Every site seems to have it's own unique benefits and issues.

I highly reccomend RR if you preffer hell difficulty disguised as easy mode.
