I check on this site and see someone left 10 comments on individual chapters! I was excited, finally some more comments to interact with the general audience!

But when I clicked on their profile to leave them a personal thank you message for reading my story, I learned that they disabled their profile darn! How did that happen? Well, if by chance you happen to be the one who left me those chapter comments, thank you so much for giving my story a chance. You didn't have to, but you read through nearly half of Act 1 alone. It means a lot to me, to know that people enjoy the content I bring to them.

Ugh, same here. But then I ask them "oh? Which "work" are you referring to...?" then I never hear from them again.

Sometimes I like to call them out and say, "Are you talking about the space-cat ninja story?" and when they reply, "Yeah!" I say "I don't HAVE a space-cat ninja story." and then i never hear from them again. ?

Their pattern is similar: praising random chapters like they're loyal readers when they're just passing through, then offering random services, and if the author refuses, they'll delete the comments to destroy the evidence. The bad news is they are on almost every platform.
