The rating system can be sometimes good and bad.

Bad because of trolls, individuals who are not fond of a certain genre and types of characters or whatever reason such as " I rate this story with 1 story because the author's story is better than mine!", " I rate this story with 1 story because the author's story is better than mine!", "I hate harem!", "I hate yaoi!", etc as long those reasons are very invalid and childish.

My proposal I believe might lessen this. It should and must be able to lock down 'crabs' / trolls who own multiple ScribbleHub accounts and bombard it with 1 star.

I believe there should be a log, a mark on the chapter, and a date with user's username on it. Whether they use disable viewing of profile in their setting or not, they'll not be able to post multiple 'reviews' on same story in same chapter because of being 'tracked' unless they edit it which has a mark of "date of edit". I might as well call it a chapter review or a better term for that in public display (with no option of hiding the review by a user who reviewed it.)

There should be a track of review too (Review History) for user panel.

It looks like something like this:

ReviewThe first chapter is good for me. Everything and the idea is good but the problem is that the author used a cliche Fox Hunting Mobs, Clan Council and "West" Empire, commonly found in Naruto fandom on this site except the story is an original one, not original character-centric fanfiction.

If only the author did not use those cliches and reused types but with original ideas, maybe I would have evaluated the story chapter itself differently.
Chapter 2

ReviewIt seems the author took note of what I said in my previous review.

The details of the chapter itself felt like watching movie including those 'scenes'. I feel sorry for that character because of being manipulated by that guy. I know it's a fictional story but I can relate because I experienced that too in real life and it really broke my heart.

I don't know what to put here anymore lol, but this chapter is full of feels. Others might think same thoughts as I. It's so feel-ish. I hope the MC will be able to recover from that.

Fine job.

Since Scribblehub is more of a community-based site, author-reader interactive... Why don't we make use of NUFFIES Banking System ?

What would this be for? Just gratification for seeing numbers go up or what?

@Tony is a site revamp for the review planned or open to suggestions?

Uhhhhh... I didn't say it is for gratification like it is in NUF. I explained in the following sentences how it can be used in SH. That authors will have to earn 'points' in order to post a chapter... tis all in my concept anyway.

Please feel free to disregard this. It's not like Tony will implement it. All the final decision for the site comes from him.

So in order to post a lot of chapters, you have to get readers. But if you don't post chapters, you don't get readers, which leads to you being unable to post chapters.

Meanwhile the successful authors are reaping in the points, posting more and more chapters, while the rest have their supply dried up and can't post anything.

Additionally, some people like to post many short chapters, while others like posting infrequent long chapters. Are the former screwed over?

Sounds like either a dysfunctional or extraneous system.

At some point you have to consider the thought process of "let's put a roadblock for posting chapters in a site about creative writing" and wonder where it all went wrong.

Yes, you're right. I've never thought if that. Which lead me to a "what if"... the identified authors has to review to earn points! Absurd isn't!? BUT it has a chance to work, right? Just that it will feel like FORCED labor... even I might lose enthusiasm posting chapters if I have to write reviews but keep in mind I get one too, right? I think this is too ambitious. XD Lmao. Wadda'ya think @Axiom

Hmm...

How about changing the scale, explaining what each number in each scale mean, along with the rating method? For example the scale is -5 to 5. The 0 represent that the story is okay, while the -5 is very bad and 5 is very good. Then, for each chapter, the rating would be weighted the further they are to the current chapter. Like this:

ch1: average rating 3.2
ch2: average rating 2.6
ch3: average rating 3.4
ch4: average rating 1.6
ch5: average rating 2.2

Assume that ch5 is the current chapter. The rating for overall chapter is (2.2 + 1.6(0.9) + 3.4(0.9)^2 + 2.6(0.9)^3 + 3.2(0.9)^4)/5, or perhaps each rating of that chapter + each rating of the previous chapter times weight to the power of 1 + ... + each rating of the first chapter times weight to the power of chapter number - 1, divided by the number of rating. This way, if there are early negative review, they could be drowned in the subsequent chapter.

As for why using negative to positive, it is because of the weight honestly. Also this way it can be clear if a negative rating meant a negative story, and positive rating meant a positive story.

How about the reverse? They can review, but not rate? Of course this option should be available to each story. So if they want to write oneshot, fine. The site will let them use the rating system. If they want to write more chapter, more than ten, they can open it too after certain number they decide. Meanwhile, review should be open anytime.
I like it
