So, how many times should you bring up character stats in a Webnovel. Every other chapter or every 5 chapters?

So, how many times should you bring up character stats in a Webnovel. Every other chapter or every 5 chapters?

I can only tell you how I'm doing it.
  1. When a character is actively inspecting another character, or item, a brief window is given for what they see.
  2. At the end of any chapter where the character's stats, or abilities, have changed or improved. Strictly what has changed, or improved.
For example:
[Character Status Insert]
NAME: Morrigan Flamecrest
CLASS: Shaman LEVEL: 19 RANK: Bronze-****

[Item Stats Insert - All benefits are applied only while the weapon is equipped and in-use]
Sword of Avalon
Weapon Class: Swords - Requires: Swords - S-rank
Weapon Type: Arming Sword - One-handed Sword
Damage: 70 - 150
Weapon Mods: Holy Fire (+100 Radiant Damage), Enhanced Damage (+250%), Rend Armor (50%), Dragon-Bane (Ignore Armor & Resistances: Dragon), Fiend-Bane (Ignore Armor & Resistances: Fiends)
Enchantments: Enhanced Damage (200%), Regeneration (20% Damage on Hit - Health), Rejuvenation (10% Damage on Hit - Mana), Echo (Copy Activated Techniques and Spells at 50% damage), All Skills +1 Rank, All Attributes +50%
Flavor Text: "Stand firm, my Knights. There is no challenge to great for you to overcome together."

[Character Growth Insert - Included as post-chapter author's note]
HEALTH+1
MANA+2
Strength
Agility+1
Vitality
Intellect
Wisdom+2
Charisma+2

Every time it might seem funny for the MC to baselessly declare he has a +4 innate bonus with sticks or stacking -4 penalties vs jump scares and ichor respectively.

Or for someone else to point out to the MC that numeric stats in general and +4/-4 bonuses or penalties in particular do not in fact exist and he should really stop going on about that.

Whenever. Bonus points if you do the full spreadsheet, especially if you post it before and after every change, since the readers can't feel character growth anymore unless it's in numbers. How could a reader understand that a mythical weapon with an aura of death and destruction is powerful if there isn't a +2 for damage at the status screen?! /s

My rule of fist (not just thumb, the whole hand) is that you post the concerned parts of the stat screen only when needed or if major changes happen. Posting the whole stat screen more than once per minor arc is too much, unless your characters gear up, mutate, or get otherwise physically or magically added or subtracted on.

Only when there is something significant to say about them. I've had some data as to how annoying stat spreadsheets could become in an audio-book, so I somehow toned down my approach to them. I'm still writing a LITRPG, but I have reduced them to the absolute minimum

(yes, I'm aware that a lot of litrpg readers love stat spread sheets... but in the end before i realize myself i was kind off setting them aside =_="... )
