Fairytale 1: The little matchorc (part 1)

It was a cold winter night, on a random Friday. There was a little big, macho orc ( @Bimbanana ) on the snowy streets trying to sell matchsticks!

"Matchsticks? Anyone? Buy matchsticks! 3 packs for 10 dollars! Buy one get none free!" cried the not so little Orc, rubbing his warm sweaty hands together. His voice trembling loud enough to scare pigeons.

But, as it happens, this is the modern era where everyone has lighters and electricity to get light. There wasn't simply much use for matchsticks, so it wasn't anything unusual when no one paid any attention to him. Yet, our industrious orc continued to toil, hard at work.

He blocked the path of a mushroom( @Agentt ) crawling back home after a long day at work, "Matchsticks, gentleman? They are of very good quality!"

"Ah! Don't block me! I have no money, macho orc! Besides I already bought matchsticks from a cute little matchgirl from around the street. My boss is very capitalistic! Doesn't pay well!" said the mushroom and continued on his way, eager to get back withing his homely comforts to enjoy his weekend.

The little matchorc was stunned! Was someone stealing his business? Deciding that there could only be one matchseller in the area, he went to confront the matchgirl.

Arriving, he saw a little matchgirl shivering in the cold, her trembling voice earnestly calling to the pedestrians, pleading for them to purchase a matchstick.
"Oh dear, please. I'm so cold. Please buy a mewchstick from me!" she cried, causing passerby to throw a look of pity towards the girl.

Occasionally, some overly sympathetic passerby would come, hand her a dollar or two.

The orc stood flabbergasted as the matchgirl continued, until she spotted him, shot him a smug glance for a brief second before replacing it with a sad pitiful face.
@Bimbanana couldn't believe the audacity of this [Redacted but feel free to imagine any curse word of your desire]! What a hypocrite!

Yes, he was a poor orc too, but no matter his financial situation, he still had thrown in his knitted sweater and gloves as precaution for the cold. He took pride in his hardwork and there comes this girl pity marketing for tiny bits of profit!

He stomped over to her!

"You! How dare you!?" He bellowed! "You're not selling matchsticks, you are selling sadness! I demand you stop it this instant!" He pointed a finger at her in outrage.
"B-but I sell mewtchstick, Sir Orc" she stammered rubbing her fingers, pale and blue from cold. "It's mew livelihood. I've got my Ma ( @CinnaSloth ) waiting for mew back at home."

A passerby immediately stopped and handed the girl 5 dollars.

"See?" the orc roared, "This is emotional manipulation! Utterly unethical! I demand fair, transparent contest!"

"Mewotinal mewipulation? What's that?" the matchgirl( @Assurbanipal_II ) tilts her head, asking softly. "I'm just cold." she said.

"Then wear a sweater!" he argues, shrugging off his sweater and holding it out, "now compete fairly!"

The girl stared at the sweater being handed out. Scrunching her nose, as if in disgust, she softly pushed it away.
A warning glint in her eyes.

"I- I cannot accept that." the girl pushed away the sweater.

*gasps* The eavesdropping crowd were awed. "How selfless" someone cried out.
Another person came to give her 20 dollars, "buy yourself some tuna."

"Oh!" The orc muttered, "you're good at this!"
That was it! The war was on! From now on, this street would only house one of them! The orc would make sure of it!

I get it from the match girl because she has the job title with backing from the match makers guild. The orc is impeding on guild spaces by trying to sell matches outside the guilds requirements by law.

I would buy them from the match girl at a negotiated discount and sell them as a middle bull for a profit.
