It is 7:55 pm, and I think I can hold up to 9! Leaving the lights on seems to help, even though I am watching a writing vlog in my bed. I'd read, but my eyes can't seem to focus.
It is 8:42 pm. I tried, I really tried. My bed is calling. Good night.

I naturally have extremely high cortisol levels so I don't think I've gotten more than 4-6 hours of sleep each night for as long as I can remember. No sleep medication works so I rely on weed, NyQuil, or the monthly crash to get more sleep than that.

Funny enough, the high cortisol levels make me more resistant to pain relievers, a good chunk of poisons, and some toxins. Though I am highly susceptible to hallucinogenics so I avoid those at all costs.

Tonight was the first night in the past two months in which I actually dreamed. It was a nightmare, and I reported it in the Daily Loss Mega Thread with poor grammar, after going out in the darkness to round up all of my cats.

You know, just to make sure they weren't eaten.

But that got me thinking. Waking up at 3 am means I lose tons of REM sleep. That can't be good for me. It is true, that people still ask me if I am in high school (which is funny, since I am 29 and fat), but that won't last forever.

So, dear Forum users, any tips with which I can stay up to at least 9 p.m. and wake up at 6?

(Because I want to be mistaken for a high schooler for a couple of more years. At least until I turn 50. For that, I need sleep.)
It honestly comes down to setting up a routine. The first few days (even weeks) might be difficult due to trying to start a new habit, but once your body gets used to it, it becomes easier to do so.

My sleep schedule is all over the place though, so I can't give any good advice. I can usually go to sleep when I want, but that is usually hindered by my poor choices of staying up late reading.

Also, I mostly get up at 3am anyways so that I can get ready and make it to my work on time. Just from following that routine, I now have found myself naturally waking up at that time-

except Saturdays, where I sleep half the day away...

Sleep is for the weak~

My bedtime is between 12:00am and 5:00am, I get up at 7:30am on school days and sleep in until somewhere between 11:00am and 2:00pm on weekends. Naps happen twice a month between around 5:00pm and 10:00pm. So, I don’t get enough sleep. I do when school’s not in session… most of the time.

It is 9:09, and I am still up and feeling fresh as a daisy. This will change when I turn off the lights, but writing one more short story before bedtime helped. It wasn't as easy as my morning and lunch writing sessions, but I moved the plot of the shared universe forward.

I woke up at 5:09, after having to go back to bed 3 times. But, progress is progress.

I'm anemic so I'm pretty tired all the time and regularly have an early bedtime (or nap when I'm done work/college) but I go through revenge insomnia a few times a month. Like tonight as it's almost 1 am and I have to get up in 5 hours.

@Voidiris and @l8rose have you tried getting enough light in your eyes during the day? That helps me a lot. If you are wearing glasses, try to take them off while working out. I hope you get better soon.

I've tried that. Plus walking/exercising and reducing computer/phone use towards bedtime. I've managed to pavlov myself by playing piano music when I'm going to sleep so that usually helps.

It just usually happens after I've had a busy few days and my brain goes right to "we must stay up to do all the things we haven't been able to do".

Yes. ...I fall asleep immediately when I lie on the bed, but sometimes there are times when I can't sleep. All I do is drink herbal tea, specifically chamomile
