Shovels are cool.

Shovels are both the perfect weapon and landscaping tool. In the trenches it was the most commonly used melee weapon. This was due to bayonets being generally bad in trenches. I can not remember all the points, but I remember it was related to length and panicked soldiers making it bad.

This is more a statement than a debate.

Depends on the shape of the shovel. Small shovels are pretty bad, they have bad ergonomics and you can't shovel as much because it isn't big of a lever. Polearm-type SHARP shovel? I'll take all your stock!

That ruins the shovel itself. If the soil you are digging in is loose, or if it’s sand, it would fall through the shovels head. A hole in it compromises the perfection of the shovel! ???
